Cool stuff smile.gif Percussive accoustic playing has become "A Thing" in recent years. There are even tutorials on how to do it.

Like any style, it's very easy to do it very badly, and difficult to make it sound killer imho. Being able to combine melodic and percussive elements takes some practice to be sure. Tosin Abasi does something similar on electric guitar using techniques typically reserved for Bass guitar (such as the "Victor Wooten" slap/pop/pluck that Tosin uses so well. It makes sense though as his low string is actually a bass string. smile.gif The way he applies it to the other 7 is what make it interesting imho.

Antonio Dufour is one of my favorites/ He is such a beast in the Acoustic.

It's a proven fact that guitar faces have a bigger impact on tone than wood does.

I'm glad you mentioned Antoine Dufour - I heard his music about 3 or 4 years ago for the first time and immediately purchased his 2 albums.

This style is really the only other style of guitar I like next to heavy rhythm and good tasteful bluesy solos. Never could get into prog and players that just shred for entire albums; can't stand country although I can appreciate all those other styles and players the music just doesn't touch my soul. This stuff does.

Speaking of country music, I received a text yesterday from one of my co-workers saying he would be running late for work. He said he had to pick up his nephew from jail in the middle of the night then had to take his mother to the hospital in the morning - if that don't sound like a country song I don't know what does.

I'm surprised we haven't seen any re-designs of guitars for this style of playing. I'm sure the standard shape is a compromise.

I love this style and really enjoyed the first video! The first ones that attrackted my attention in this style were Andy Mckee, Justin King and Kaki King.

The music that they do is beautiful and very relaxing.

We have some cool lessons about this: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/search/percussive/
