Hi everyone! I found this vid today. It's a part of Young Guitar series and it's quite informative.

There's also one from Jani (former Sonata Arctica and Kain's Offering).

I probably won't be able to make use of them anytime soon but maybe someone else will smile.gif

Cool stuff mate! That Gilbert's video has many useful technique exercises.

This is where I recommend you to start if you want to get into his style of playing:

I know I won't pass this REC anytime soon, not until I learn vibrato, bending and vibrato on bent notes properly but the least I can do is keep challenging myself and eventually I'll get it done.

And not just the Bootcamp! I think I saw some PG inspired licks in the Quick Licks section. However, Mission 18 is currently my top priority. It really is tough but I came up with a few ideas already! It's just a matter of time smile.gif

Yup!! Paul Gilbert style licks are present in nearly every Quick licks, and Bootcamp. Since he is once of my main influences, many of my drills are based on his work/style. So keep at it! Your picking up very quickly on the techniques!!
Don't stress to badly on 18. The goal of the Mission is just to get you to create a short guitar solo. It does not have to be shreddy. Does not have to be fast. Does not have to even contain licks we have covered. It just needs to be you playing over the backing and building a solo. It can be a very simple solo. This is the first time I'm asking for your solo work in Bootcamp. There will be plenty of other times to come smile.gif

I love the Paul videos, I think if you follow them it really helps your alternate picking, specially the super oldd one with the pink guitar haha

Love the super old ones with the pink guitar!! smile.gif I've watched them all and borrowed a LOT from him and his style of playing. One big difference is that he alternate picks everything while I found that I drifted toward econ picking on some of his drills/music. For example the tune TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES I play the intro with Econ, but he plays it Alternate. I can't play it alternate at all and I don't know how he manages it. Other than he's an Alien!!
