I wanted to create a Metal Style collab to allow everyone to put some of the thing we have been working on in Saturday Video Chat lessons in to a song. So this Collab will be Heavy Metal / Heavy Rock in style, and in a Minor Key.

SONG: Canonical Decomposition

KEY: B Minor and or B Harmonic Minor

BPM: 90 BPM

Feel free to go nuts! I can't wait to hear what everyone comes up with! This is a bit speedy and in an odd key so it might be a bit much for some, but given the talent here on the site, I'm not worried.

Attached File  canonical_demcomposition.mp3 ( 899.92K ) Number of downloads: 362

Many of the chops and licks we have covered in our lessons would fit, but feel free to use anything! Here is a link to the tablature for all the chops we have done so far.

LESSON NOTES TABLATURE

ALL ARE WELCOME! NO RESTRICTIONS! GO NUTS!

Wow! LOVE IT! You are doing some truly crazy licks there. It's just perfect! I really dig the wah wah as well. If your take is any indication this is going to be nuts! Killer.

Woah! As if the BT itself wasn't intimidating enough...Daniel you just scared everyone off with these crazy chops! wink.gif
Nevertheless, I'll give it a shot...so, when will this collab be closed?

Got a good smile and chuckle after reading this post. I didn't think about it that way until you mentioned it, but now that I listen to it, the BT may seem to be a bit much. Then Daniels brilliant take on it at Warp speed made it a bit more imposing. However, please everyone, don't be thrown off, it just sounds really fast, it's not that bad once you take a crack at it smile.gif You can always play against the speed and focus on phrasing. Give it a try! smile.gif

CLOSING DATE:
I'd like to get a rough mix this weekend if possible so post your track some time before sunday at midnight if possible.

NO RESTRICTIONS ANYONE CAN SUBMIT A TAKE: EVERYBODY WELCOME!

Okay, so I gave it a shot today and I think it worked out well. I kinda messed up the beginning of the fast picking part I planned for the second take...but listen for yourself.
Actually, the BT is really cool and a few ideas crossed my mind, so in the end I wished it was a little longer wink.gif
Hope to see you in the chat on saturday!

Very cool take! Thanks for sharing it! smile.gif I dig both of them. So far the takes are great. I really appreciate your taking the time to play over both tracks. Going to do a much larger breakdown of takes after the final mix. Hopefully more will be up in a few days.

I thought I'd post my own take on the first part to show an example of playing against the speed of the track. There are some fast bits, but I spend most of the lead playing much slower than the beat itself as a way of emphasizing harmony. For those who think the backing track may be to fast to play over, try playing something melodic against the beat!

For those who up for it, play as fast or even faster than the beat. The two takes so far are killer examples of how far one can take speed and phrasing at the same time. Here's one from me!

DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES: SATURDAY JULY 10th, 2010.

I'm throwing down the glove! I hereby challenge every GMC'r to embrace the blitz and play over this track. Still, even if we don't get any more entries I'm so stoked about what we have so far that I can't wait to mix it together.

LAST CALL! GO NUTS! ALL WELCOME!
