Hi Colin

You can play metallica songs, For whom the bell tolls and enter sandman are very easy.
I think you should look in your cd collection listen to the bands you like
and try to play the songs.

I'm pretty much a newbie and Enter Sandman doesn't look too intimidating. Well, except for the solo.

I'm trying to not start any new songs til I'm happy with Back in Black. Also not difficult (and not 'metal' enough) but I'm having a hell of a time getting the muting right to make it crisp and punchy.

Seek and Destroy was the first thing that came to my mind. The solo is tough(for me anyway), but the rest of the song is very easy. Plus, it is a cool song. biggrin.gif

"Fact is, nothing in the world bores me more than gear...If I played thru your rig, I would still sound like me. Van Halen would sound like Van Halen. Brian May...etc. Very early in my career I decided to focus on creating music and not being a guitar tech. Being a good guitar tech is a very different and extremely difficult job, so why not leave it to a pro?"

None of the songs on my list are that hard, they may sound it or look it, but they arent!

I think someone said the trooper was hard!

NAH!

just go back to it, and look at it closely, it has the same chord progression throughout the song pretty much, and teh riffs are pretty easy with just a little practice.

But, the solos are tricky, you want some songs with some pretty easy solos as well to get ya started?

Megadeth - She Wolf, it might seem a bit tricky, but you should be able to get it down, i think its only about 5-6 different repeating patterns

3 Inches Of Blood - Axes Of Evil, basic tapping solo, uses 2 different patterns

Amon Amarth - Valhalla Awaits Me, Simple, Melodic, Very nice phrasing.

Arch Enemy - Nemesis (The Last One)
Arch Enemy - Snow Bound, nice phrasing with a wah pedal
Arch Enemy - Dead Eyes See No Future (Last One)
Arch Enemy - We Will Rise (First One is fairly easy, second one is a bit trickier)

Dream Theater - In The Presence Of Enemies Part 1 Solo (2:10)

Judas Priest - Living After Midnight

Iced Earth - Watching Over Me, Amazing solo, can be a bit tricky at times, but the concept is simple, might take a bit longer than other to learn, worth it though.

What did you learn tonight?
while shouting so loud, you barely joyous, broken thing.
You are a voice that never sings, is what i say.
You are freezing over hell
You are bringing on that end you do so well
and you can only blame yourself, is what is say.

Nemisis by Arch enemy is a great song to learn, it has some fast solos in it but they are very easy solos, just watch your speedpicking for this 1 smile.gif
