Help: Can't Play Guitar Properly While Standing

Nov 17 2007, 09:39 PM	GMC:er Posts: 23 Joined: 24-October 07	dear gmcers, i cant play the guitar while standing. the guitar body rests on my right thigh i can alternate pick normally but my left hand cant reach frets for penatonic scales... any help on this? But it needs lots of practice to be comfortable at that level So my advice is to keep the strap real high and practice standing playing like that, then gradually lower it to a level where you're happy with the comfort/playability tradeoff. Nov 26 2007, 04:03 PM	GMC:er Posts: 21 Joined: 15-August 07 From: Seattle, Washington, USA	I'm pretty big on performance (there's no way a band will make it without a killer live show these days), and I've realized that it really does pay off to practice standing and lowering your guitar little by little until it's comfortable at a level that's not hard to move your guitar while playing. You don't need to be swinging it like a bass, but if you play Beatles style on stage, all the work in the world won't make you look like an impressive guitarist to non-musicians. If a band/performance is not important to you, you might as well tighten your strap to the level you play sitting, as others have already said.
