First adjust the strap so its on a comfortable level, do not care about how it looks.
And then its pretty much all about practice. Good luck smile.gif

Try to adjust strap that way so guitar is in almost the same position like when you're sitting.
And practice of course. smile.gif

just follow the above advice, altho lower may look cooler it does make it harder to play, so shorten the strap.

Personally I think low strap looks silly. Ahh maybe it works for heavy metal..

It definitely works for jimmy page. But it needs lots of practice to be comfortable at that level tongue.gif So my advice is to keep the strap real high and practice standing playing like that, then gradually lower it to a level where you're happy with the comfort/playability tradeoff.

Here you see that Vai and Petrucci is playing with the guitar relatively high, they look relaxed and cool. On the other hand Satriani (to the left) is playing low, he always looks like he is either struggling, falling or loosing his head ... not very cool ... so ...

I love how everyone has said the same thing over and over, even though it's obviously already been said... biggrin.gif

On a serious note, don't listen to these guys. What you need to do is shorten your guitar strap! ohmy.gif

Practise while standing everything you play on stage and you will get it.

I'm pretty big on performance (there's no way a band will make it without a killer live show these days), and I've realized that it really does pay off to practice standing and lowering your guitar little by little until it's comfortable at a level that's not hard to move your guitar while playing. You don't need to be swinging it like a bass, but if you play Beatles style on stage, all the work in the world won't make you look like an impressive guitarist to non-musicians.

If a band/performance is not important to you, you might as well tighten your strap to the level you play sitting, as others have already said.
