I'm not posting very frequently but here's some insight I've had, obvious things but applying them isn't that obvious I'll take myself as an example to demonstrate: my alternate picking isn't good. I'm having great trouble descending a major scale for instance (I practice it with 3 notes per string on 2,5 octaves)... But when I practice it most of the time I don't focus on that particular part of my playing. Instead I practice both ascending and descending for the same amount of time, which isn't that efficient. What I should be doing is focusing on only descending for a week or two, to bring it up to where my ascending skills are currently. Fifteen minutes of correct practice will do you more good, than 5 hours of incorrect, unintelligent practice. Bad practice just makes you better at playing badly!
