Hello Eric,
I am glad to see you back in MTP with me. Last time we did good work lets try to keep the pace up and do good things this time as well!
As I have read in your private message, we will focus a bit more on extending your chord vocabulary. Last time in MTP we finished Triads in C major scale series. We did not however do very important lesson which will actually be your 1st assignment in June. Consider it a review of all triad lessons in a musical context!
Here is your 1st assignment
1st assignment:
Triads in a song context
- Check out Triads in a song context lesson http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Triads_In_a_Song_Context/
- Use backing track provided to record it.
- Upload audio and/or video in this thread here.
- Feel free to use this lesson as your REC requirement for this month!
- Notice how this lesson is directly related to all previous triad lessons
Deadline for this assignment is 9th of June! If you need extension for it, please let me know.
I look forward hearing from you about this assignment!
Pedja
Ok thanks, will check that ASAP.
Great Eric, let me know if you got any questions!
I worked about 2 hours on the assignment and will be able to record it tonight. Will try to do a video so I can post it for the REC.
Hi Pedja,
I know the delay was yesterday. I was recording when my girlfriend invited me for dinner.
Will do that tonight !
Thanks for your patience,
Hi Pedja,
Here's my take. For now I didn't record on video because I had no time to do it but I will.
There is a few timing problem I think. I need to practice this lesson a few more dozen times before it's perfect. I will do more takes for the REC for sure.
The sound is a simple jazz amp with a tremolo.
This assignment opened my mind on a few triads I forgot to practice since the last MTP sessions. Good thing !
Hope it's good,
Cheers

Hi Eric,
Take is good and like you said there are few timing issues. I don't really mind it as you were creative with sound (sounds like rhodes keys) and did your thing a bit there. If you plan to do this one for the REC (which I think you should!) then you will need to do the video and fix those timing issues. Overall very good, this would pass as 7 or 8 no problem.
Pedja

This is my take for assignment 2.

Yep, I am pretty happy with the tone and playing. There is a small mistake that make a chord dissonant and a few timing problems but other than that it's pretty good I think.
I will work on the last assignment tomorrow and on Wednesday.
One thing I am happy with it doesn't take me as much time as before to make a good record of a lesson like those ones. It takes me about 1 hour or 2.
Then, the problem is that I don't really memorize the patterns and position. I will have to use them a lot to get used to and it takes time to do that.
I agree with you Eric. Those shapes will take time to sink in but for purpose of completing lessons it doesn't really take too much time to do them.
Look forward to rest of the assignments!
Pedja
Hi Pedja,
Sorry for the delay. It's summer time, very sunny and hot here so I spend most of the time outside. I practiced the lesson today and hope to be able to record a take by the end of the week.
Cheers,
Hi Eric,
Thanks for letting me know It is summer here as well so I understand absence. Try to do it asap so that we can get to new assignments soon.
Pedja
Though, I have a problem with the last part of the last assignment. I cannot stretch my fingers enough to play the last few chords. Will try again but I probably won't be able to record that fluently in one take. So not sure how I am going to do it for now...
I understand it Eric. That lesson has the largest stretch out of any I recorded for GMC Take it easy and build into it. Isolate just that section with stretches and practice it with metronome or backing track then connect it with other sections and finally do whole thing together!
Hi Eric,
I am just checking how you are doing with remaining assignments. Are you able to execute those large stretches now???
Hi Eric,
Just checking when can I expect those assignments from you ?
Hey Eric just wondering about remaining assignments? Will you be able to complete them by 30th of August since MTP program is stopping after that date. Thanks
