Hi

I have all kinds of guitars, electric and accoustic but I don´t have any Nylon (classical) guitar. I´ve been practicing some intermediate classical stuff on my steel strings. But now I want to buy a classical guitar.

Can you advice me on some models you know of. I don´t want any cheap Yamaha or something like that, but not too expensive either, just something in the middle of the road. I´ve been looking at some Alhambras. I have been thinking of getting 3C model at my local store, but something is turning me off, I would loke to get something a little better. Mabye it´s because I´m not used to play Nylons.

Yamaha has some great classical models. I know some other cool ones. Savarez, Kontreras ... I hope I pronounced correctly. Gerardo and Sergio should know more about it.

I think I have found my guitar. At a local shop I found a Manuel Rodriguez Model D (Spruce top). It costs about 800$ or 615 euros and it´s a very beautiful instrument. Have you classical players played MR guitars?

I post some pictures later, I will buy it today.

In prizes about 200-300 euros I recommend you Alhambra guitars, without a doubt. Models 1c, 2c and 3c are very similar; most of times 3c is a little better, this is the model that usually get my students. It have very "classical sound", sweet and clear and also the volume is strongest comparing with other giutars with similar prizes. I recommend you to taste different models ( ie different 3c) if you have the chance, because sometimes there is a quite difference between two guitars though being the same model. I don´t know if in your country there are Camps guitars, but is a good mark two. In my opinion Camps are better in flamenco guitars, and Alhambra is the best in classical guitars - in these prizes. Also try out Savarez Alliance strings when you buy your guitar, because volume and claity increases a lot ( these are the strings that I use).
By the way, one of my better teachers of classical guitar was from Iceland- Arnaldur Arnaldsson. So great guitarists in that country!!!

I don´t know Manuel Rodriguez guitars, but looks great. Good luck!

Nice smile.gif. I think he has a music store in Spain (Madrid or Barcelona) that sells quality hand made guitars. Many from Iceland go to him to purchase their instruments.

My choice now is Alhambra 3C or MR Model D. The MR seems to be a little more high end mabye simular to Alhambra 4P or 5P. But I have a limited choise here because not many models are availeble here. I want to get Alhambra 5P, but it´s not availeble so I think I will go for the Miguel Rodriguez D.

Ordering from the Internet is out of the question because the economic is ruined here and I would have to pay more than double for anything.

Thanks for the advice. smile.gif
