Hello everybody! Let me cut to the chase. I am trying to replace the pickups on my ibanez because they suck lol. So i found these two but I dont know what they are. They look exactly the same so I am only going to post one pickup. They say F and R on the pickups, respectably. Hopefully someone recognizes them smile.gif

There is almost ZERO chance to recognize these pickups without any engravings or stuff. Even if you open them up, all you can determine is the magnet type and the winding...It could be anything but since there are no company brands on it I assume they are quite cheap but you never know unless you try!

Drop them into your Ibanez and see if they sound better than your current ones! My guess is that F and R stand for front and rear or some other kind of indication to show which one is the bridge and which one the neck pickup...

Supported, finding out which brand they belong to will be a real long shot.

If a proper company made these, they would surely put their names or some sort of signature on.

hmm, yah, i assumed as such. I guess i will try to search up pickups that stamp the F and R into them smile.gif . I hope they are not cheap. I had spare EMG's lying around but i accidentally cut the wire too short :x haha. If anyone recognizes them please tell me! haha and thank you Zakk, i will try them out.

i searched online and they say wilkinson pickups have the F and R stamps on the back but mine do not say wilkinson :l

You cut the wire too shot? Can you just prolong the wire?

@ Ivan:
with the EMG's, they have a smaller wire in a bigger wire and if you cut too far back, it is impossible to prolong the wire unfortunately, or so I read. But if you look at it, its is noticeable.

@Marc
Well, my dad built a hollow body guitar long ago. I just took these off his because he let this guitar go.

+1!!
I'm with Zakk and think you'll find that the F and R stand for Front and Rear!
If these were Wilkinson they'd be stamp marked on the backplate.
As for your EMG's, if you're very careful you should be able to attach to the remaining wire where you cut it. If you're not confident to do this take it to an Electronics Shop (doesn't have to be a Guitar Shop!!) and ask to get it fixed! It shouldn't cost much!
