Hey there! Everybody knows Marty Friedman for his grate job on Megadeath, but have you ever listened to his solo work? I'm a huge fan of guys like Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Yngwei and so, but never payed attention to Marty, i have to say his solo albums are just AMAZING!! much better than his grate work on megadeth, actually is diferent, i think Marty is almost at the same level Joe Satriani and those guys are, actually in his last album LOADSPEAKER he has a song where he does some "guitar battle" with Steve Vai, and there is another one with Jonh Petrucci.

I think this guy Marty is just amazing, what do you think? is he at the same level those mosters are? a mean Satriani and company... i think they should do a G3 with Marty.

PD: i just got the Ibanez SZ320 Marty is using now tongue.gif

I never really listened to him as a solo artist. So I don't have any say on whether his solo work is good or not.

He is definitely up there. One of the best guitarists ever, but don't forget about his fellow player Jason Becker. They played together in Cacophony and in some of Marty's solo stuff. He has his own solo stuff too. Check him out. wink.gif

That is of course something worth checking out also as Slash just said. Jason is amazing. I wish he could still play. But he does still write.

yeah, he is a great guitar player !!! I live his album Music for speeding, it's a really good one, and the lessons in his MELODIC CONTROL video (I don't remember if it's the correct name, but I think it is) are amazing more than 10 simple exercices, as a way to abord the music and the composition... really inspiring wink.gif

I have listened to some Jason's songs, but isn't he playing anymore? what hapened to him? i read something that Marty wrote about an album some artist were doing as a Jason's tribute, lots of band are going to be in that album making Jason's covers.

Juan, those videos you are talking about are grate, but you should listen to his albums, the music he does, lots of nice melodies not as heavy as megadeath, is a complete diferent thing, one of my fav albums is "True Obsesions" and his last one "Loadspeaker"

As I think I've made clear in many threads before... I LOVE Marty Friedman! wub.gif

IMO, Marty was perfect in Megadeth and in his solo, way beyond that. Marty alongside Jason are the only persons in the history of music, that have never ever composed something that I didn't like..(I find it hard to believe myself, but that how it is)

About Marty solo albums... Don't forget Scenes, it's fantastic! smile.gif
