The way You do it is ok. Unfortunately the only way to do it quicker is to...learn how th shred on keyboard
 I do it the same way. The difference is only I already know where all the drum kit parts are on the keyboard and I draw mny own puzzles without using "ready loop" from the ezd grooves.
