I see things exactly like you said - experimentation is the best way to achieve things biggrin.gif

The holy grail of tones is a neverending quest and the only thing that I can tell you at this point - because I have no experience with guitar emulating software - is that the tone is too nasal somehow, I would make it a bit brighter and warmer - maybe reduce the mids a bit more? Of course, experimenting with various amp types.

You could then make a comparison of between more tone types with just ONE phrase in the lesson, so that you may see which one fits best smile.gif Anyway, take care of those bends mate - there are a few which are under the pitch. And try to be as smooth as possible smile.gif

Please let me know if I can help further with anything regarding this one, ok?

Quick update, day 4 of practice in the attachment. I feel my vibrato has gotten a lot more control still has some way to go.

The first bend sequence is the hardest part to me, I never seem to get it right I've practiced it a lot but it needs a lot more, I'm also starting to make another version of this using the backing track and making my own "similar" piece.

Just an update mostly to keep track of what I'm doing! smile.gif

I can indeed hear great improvement! Now, towards the end there are a few bends which are not that perfect - but time will make things fall into place - time well spent practicing that is biggrin.gif

The next step? Intention - you have to make me believe that those notes are there for a reason - I am not convinced - as a listener - yet smile.gif

Put more conviction and feel into what you play and it will sound 10 times better! Deal?

I don't know why this is so difficult for me, i've practiced the individual bends(all of them) like 200 times each, but it seems that bending for me takes a lot of time to learn. It's still very far from perfect but it's getting a bit better every day(I practice it every day).

Hey thanks a lot my friend!
I would really like to do another one as well. That's a great saying and I think it's very very fitting for this recording. I will keep practicing this one and bending in general, what else did you have in mind?

My 6 string guitar's pickups are broken, they make extreme static noise and so on. It's been getting progressively worse. It's sad. I started practicing this and it's a really nice line. I might be able to do one recording of this and practice this for a few days before the pickups make it impossible to play at all on that guitar. I wonder could we proceed with this mentoring anyway? I mostly play on my 8 string guitar anyways but it is absolutely dreadful for bending as i stated earlier.

Great song and great lesson, hope you're well my friend.

Started practicing The Voice of Your Guitar on the 8 string, takes a while getting used to and fingers start complaining faster biggrin.gif But it sounds a lot better(since the pickups are a LOT better). I'll upload a video of my progress tomorrow.

Hey Vince!

No problem man - listen, if you can bend on that 8 string, you will be able to bend on anything biggrin.gif

Let's see a sample and we'll start discussing from there wink.gif

Ahh yes, it's possible to get fairly decent tones for me with this one. It's not perfect I still haven't figured out how to finger the second chorus line and make the vibrato work well on the higher frets but I find it easier to bend on this guitar actually. I thought it was impossible when I tried a few days ago. I guess hearing the notes clearly due to the better pickups makes it easier to hit closer to target pitch!

Hey Vince - I think you did a good job so far biggrin.gif

You still have some work to do on some missed pitches and I'd like those bends in the beginning - those short quirky ones to be more precise - you are almost there tho, closer than other folks have been with this piece in their first take.

Now for the second part - work a bit more as it lacks a bit of flow. What I'd like to point out: 01:29 and 01:36 -> awesome vibrato! That's the way to go, my brother! biggrin.gif

Let's focus on the entrance in the second part and on the second part itself, aye? You are doing a great job so far!

Hey Cosmin! Thank you and yes, those are great points. It's great that you remind me of these things. I kept thinking while practicing that I need to get more control of those quirky ones! But had later completely forgot about them.

Second part needs a lot of work for sure, I will keep practicing it, and maybe I will try to play The Voice of Your Guitar 2 on the 8 string now as well. smile.gif

Sure thing! The pleasure is all mine, especially when I see that you are progressing at such a serious pace! Let's see the other one on the 8 string as well, alongside the improved version of this one smile.gif

Hey Cosmin I need your help. I've added frank gambale's chop builder to my training repertoir and I noticed that I can play scales in two ways, with a very relaxed arm/hand and with a more ridig hand. So I hear that relaxing is better, but how much is too much? My whole hand moves a bit and helps play the scale if I play as relaxed as is comfortable(on the 8 string) but if I play more ridig my fingers move less which is also something that people say is good.

So relaxation over minimized movement? Which should I prioritize?

Sorry if this is not articulation related, still working on the songs every day and getting better and better!

Hey Vince! It's not bad man - there are some places in which the pitches are not quite there and as a general observation, I can notice that you aren't yet used to playing the piece on the 8 string, as the overall feeling is a bit rigid smile.gif

Take your time to get used to the feeling that this guitar has and adapt your playing to it - anyway, the voice1 sounds better than the voice 2. I know those bends in the voice 2, are trickier, so focus on them, ok?
