Hmmmm....yeah, I've been thinking about that. It does seem like cheating in some way to me, it's as if you're taking a shortcut with your playing.
I still use one though. |

Well live I don't think it is necessary , but when doing some recording sessions in studio they can be handy.

I find it useful for when recording solos to get the cleanest track as possible recorded, and i use it alot for that.

I would say it's cheating as well.
Just don't "overuse" it,something like that. Maybe it's not necessary for regular picking,legato,taping etc, when your right hand is able to mute properly. But as Daniel said,it comes quite handy for stuff like 8 fingers tapping. Trond is right as well,it saves you a lot of time in studio. -------------------- Youtube
