I bought some the other day and don't really know what to do with it. Does anybody have some good recipes (simple, I'm a guitarist remember !) ?
I know you can eat it straight from the packet, or cook it up. Was thinking of frying it...
I also tried some Quinoa yesterday.. it was quite dull so if anybody has some good ideas for that too... ?

Haha, yes this video was foremost in my mind.. CUT THE TOFU !!
Thank you.. I just tried frying it and didn't really feel it. I think the stuff would probably work better if it could absorb some flavours. On its own it tastes like a less tasty egg white, mixed with paper !

Tofu never really worked for me, as it has no flavour. I think you have to put it into a spicy hot sauce for at least 24 hours, then cook it in some way. What a good thing that we have our own GMC chef now!

Try consuming it in soup. It really absorbs every flavour.
Also try looking for Yve's Ground tofu. It is a great substitute for ground meat in any situation.

Tofu? Quinoa?
Someone hacked Ben account at GMC and is posting using his name.
Posted by: WeePee May 11 2012, 03:38 PM
Put it in marinade. (oil, sweetchili, lime, fresh coriander, s&p and soy)
Then roll it in breadcrumbs and almond pieces and deep fry it.
Eat it with rise and warm coleslaw (Sweetchili, chili, curry, saffron, coconutmilk, s&s - heat all these in a pot)
I really don't like tofu but as an cook I have to sometimes do meals from it.

I sometimes eat it, you can mix with onions garlic pepper or what ever vegetable you like , than olive oil, spices you like and fresh herbs and than roast it like a burger or what ever you like .
And some cream cheese or sheep cheese taste good too - just mix it !

Ben! Just cut that square into a circle, fry it up, and dip it in liquid sugar.. Yeah I went there!
I've had it from a local Japanese Restaurant, they fry it with onions in a teriyaki sauce, its so good!
Posted by: SirJamsalot May 11 2012, 11:35 PM
cut it thin like a cheese slice, then put it onto a bun, place a 1/2 pound burger with bacon and cheese, lettuce and ... forget the tomato - tomatos suck. But yah, pour ketchup on it, and the tofu will kindof go unnoticed, but you'll get all the nutrients it has to offer, while tasting great!

maybe you could make some tofu donuts...

Eat Tofu with miso soup. Japanese always eat it in this way. It is easy , simple and very delicious!!
That looks good. Nihilist was also telling me about Miso soup. I'd never heard of it before.
Yesterday, I said that I tried frying tofu and having it with 2 fried eggs and some ham. I ended up leaving loads of tofu on a plate all day until I could decide what to do with it.
In the evening I heated up some chicken flavour ready noodles and broke the tofu up into small pieces and left it in the bowl. Poured the noodles onto it and added a dollop of soft, spreadable cheese into the mix. It kind of worked.. it disguised the taste of the tofu enough and I didn't have to waste it.

I'd try stuffing it with cheese and then wrapping it in bacon

Well, I was supposed to use the Tofu up in 3 days but there's a big block left in the fridge.. I should probably throw it out.....
