GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ There Is Someone In My Closet!

Posted by: K1R Jun 9 2011, 06:50 PM

Hey guys! Guess who I found in my closet? It is old Musima Lead Star 1, given to me by my godfather 3 years ago. It is DDR (East Germany) strat copy. I almost forgot about it smile.gif The reason I didn't play it is that it seemed broken and bad sounding. Today I changed the strings, tried to regulate the truss rod and cleaned all the dirt out of it smile.gif Now I think that I really like it smile.gif Here are some photos.

Has anyone heared something about Musima guitars? What do you think about them?

I will continue fixing my Lead Star because it has strange noice when touching Floyd Rose and volume and tone knobs are too old. But it still sounds good to me smile.gif You will be able to hear it in my takes from Ben's and Gabriel's collaborations.

What a cool thing to find in the closet ! cool.gif

I would imagine that the noise you get from the volume/tone knobs is just dirt and dust.. it makes a crackly sound when that happens. smile.gif

Nice find! You just found that lieing around?

All I found was a evil monkey in my closet!

Some East German equipment was made exceptionally well, you should hold on to this guitar, it might be a collectible.

Spray some contact cleaner in the pots to get rid of the scratchiness, and spray some into the input jack. Then work the cable in and out, but don't get too excited tongue.gif

Thank you, Ben. I will try to look inside of the guitar and see what is making that sound next week.

That's a cool story smile.gif

You should do a bit more storage in your closet, maybe you'll find an amp !

I keep most of my guitars in the closet, regularly, at least 2,3 are there, somehow it's the safest place ,sssshhhhhhh ! biggrin.gif

Evil, evil Monkey! wink.gif
Nice find man, they sure made some good stuff in eastern germany...if only they wouldn't speak such a horrible dialect laugh.gif
One info for Mr. Higgins: The eastern german girls are really pretty and know how to treat a man...gotta do 500 push-ups now.

What was I doing in there? You know, typical monkey shenanigans - pooping in my hand and getting ready to throw it at someone biggrin.gif

Wow, nice find. I've played couple of lead start guitars, they are comfortable! Not sure about the sound, but the wood is old, I guess it's OK smile.gif
