GMC Forum _ GEAR & PRODUCTION _ What Would Be Your Dream Electric Guitar?

Posted by: jer Sep 16 2008, 10:03 PM

If you had to choose one.

Posted by: sigma7 Sep 16 2008, 10:05 PM

woot 100% shecter

Posted by: Guitarman700 Sep 16 2008, 10:06 PM

im an ESP or Jackson kind of guy, although im perfectly happy with my vintage American made Kramer.
Edit: something with an explorer or V shape, no whammy bar, SD blackout pickups, ebony fingerboard, and a bound neck and headstock. basically, either a custom ESP explorer, or a Custom Jackson King V.

Posted by: OrganisedConfusion Sep 16 2008, 10:07 PM

Parker Fly Select Koa smile.gif

Posted by: superize Sep 16 2008, 10:16 PM

I would have to say ESP since many of favorite guitarist use it

Posted by: JVM Sep 16 2008, 10:29 PM

I'm going to have it made. Maple on mahogany semi-hollow body with a solid maple neck, a seymour JB in the bridge and a p-90 in the neck. Sort of a PRS style or a les paul double cutaway style not sure yet. Coil tap on the JB, two volume two tone and a 5 way pickup selector, locking tuners, some kind of floating non locked trem bar. That's about it smile.gif

Posted by: Ivan Milenkovic Sep 16 2008, 10:54 PM

Definitely a nice 57 vintage strat. cool.gif

Posted by: ChrisVdS Sep 16 2008, 11:05 PM

Ibanez RG limted edition 2008 with vine inlay in the neck, a HSH setup instead of HH with BKP pickups and a Zero point tremelo bridge now that would be an awesome guitar laugh.gif

Posted by: Emir Hot Sep 16 2008, 11:18 PM

Jimmy Page Les Paul. I tried this beast, incredible

Posted by: Chief Brody Sep 16 2008, 11:22 PM

I've seen at least 4 or 5 of those Jimmy Page Les Pauls and i haven't had the guts to try them yet because they're just so damn expensive. Even asking to try it would be asking for a shop assistant to hassle me into oblivion.....the worst part being i probably would let myself being hassled into buying it since it's a pretty incredible axe.

Personally though i'm far too indecisive to say what my dream axe actually is........but since i own 2 PRS guitars i'd have to say it'd probably be a PRS!

Posted by: 2mazzo Sep 16 2008, 11:23 PM

I still want a Ran Custom made guitar.

I want that one too biggrin.gif

Hmmm, maybe if I sell my ESP and save a looot of money I could get one in a few years tongue.gif

Posted by: tonymiro Sep 17 2008, 12:28 AM

Other for me.

More specifically a custom very similar to the one I already have - double cut away LP Junior type body, mahogany body and set neck, flamed tiger stripe maple cap on the body, translucent blue or red (don't really care as I don't look at when I'm playing wink.gif) , ebony finger board, graduated fretting, neck profile as per my Gibson HRF, cream binding, no inlays on neck. Only real change over my current custom would be a fixed bridge, present one has a floating FR which I just rarely use to justify the hassle.

So it's the same custom without the FR. I'm pretty easy to please smile.gif.

Cheers,
Tony

ps before anyone asks - no I can't just take the FR off as it's a floating, non routed set up on a fixed neck smile.gif .

Gibson Les Paul Custom with white binding and black hardware with a pair of Emgs...

Posted by: Toroso Sep 17 2008, 12:54 AM

Probably the next one I'm going to build. SG body, not sure of the wood just yet, mahog or alder tho. Floyd, Dimarzio + Duncan, Sperzals. Graphite nut. Ebony fingerboard. SS frets. Still just a babe in the womb.

Posted by: Nemanja Filipovic Sep 17 2008, 01:11 AM

Les Paul Costume.:)Black as night:)

Posted by: Trond Vold Sep 17 2008, 01:21 AM

I like to keep my guitars simple smile.gif
If it's got EMG's, strings-thru-body bridge, mahogny body and a volume-knob, then i'm pleased smile.gif

Posted by: inertia Sep 17 2008, 01:56 AM

prs custom24

Posted by: Tjchep Sep 17 2008, 02:05 AM

Either a Tom Anderson Or Suhr.. Best production guitars on the market imo.

Posted by: Praetorian Sep 17 2008, 04:41 AM

From a monetary standpoint...I would take like Ivan said, a nice '57 strat and sell it for about $40,000! Then I could buy a LOT of dream guitars!!! wink.gif

But if I had to pick one to keep, it would definitely be a custom one like Muris' that I could pick and choose every aspect of it.

Posted by: FrankW Sep 17 2008, 06:38 AM

...one that can cook me eggs...

Posted by: Kuba Szafran Sep 17 2008, 06:40 AM

Any suhr stratocaster.

Posted by: kyldeee Sep 17 2008, 06:58 AM

50's vintage strat or E.C.'s signature strat... "Blackie" biggrin.gif

Posted by: SensE Sep 17 2008, 07:22 AM

ESP and GIBSON of course !

Posted by: Jesse Sep 17 2008, 07:40 AM

I already got my dream guitar. My usa made fender strat with texas special pickups!!!!!!!!! But dream guitar? SRV'S #1

Posted by: mattacuk Sep 17 2008, 08:01 AM

I have my dream guitar, and there is NOTHING else i would rather own biggrin.gif

Posted by: blindwillie Sep 17 2008, 09:35 AM

Tough choise since I already own my dream guitar but I picked that one, Schecter then.
The next guitar to buy should be a high end Fender, but since I already own a Fender it has no priority. An Ibanez will be the next buy but it's not a dream guitar, just a fun to have one.
So the real dream guitar would be "Other", a custom made by my design.

Oh, wait! My dream guitar right now would be a cheap old beaten up guitar I don't have to be careful with, that I can mod and keep high action on for slide and different tunings and such. I'm considering a Fender Kitty for this tongue.gif
So. My dream guitar ended up as a Fender Kitty. It will get a kill switch and scalloped frets for starters biggrin.gif

Posted by: Canis Sep 17 2008, 01:01 PM

I gotta say either a Parker Nitefly Deluxe, or an Gibson SG... I'm in love with SG's... wub.gif

Posted by: g-forcelover Sep 18 2008, 01:45 AM

im the only one that said bc rich. handcrafted supreme based on a mockingbird special, with a recessed edge pro (jem stlye) and a steve vai bridge pickup, and a dimebucker neck.

Posted by: MickeM Sep 18 2008, 08:15 AM

Keeping it simple. I'd like a Gibson doublecut LP and a Suhr Classic SSS.
Voted Gibson.

Posted by: Noangels Sep 18 2008, 12:12 PM

I went Fenders way as its a design classic, and like others here I would love to have a vintage strat or two:)

Wouldnt say I have any dream guitars,as they all have their own colours.

I do intend to buy at least one Sig type guitar a year from any maker,I might look at carvins Holdsworth model next

Posted by: Matt23 Sep 18 2008, 05:57 PM

I voted PRS, not sure why though. I just like the look of them. smile.gif

Posted by: Raw Sep 20 2008, 02:40 PM

Easily Schecter, ESP og PRS for metal. But for jazz, blues and classic rock you cant go wrong with Fender and Gibson. Voted Schecter.

Posted by: Minz80 Sep 20 2008, 03:04 PM

I'd love to have a Gibson Les Paul Traditional Plus Electric Guitar -Heritage Cherry Burst!
I voted Gibson~

Schecter Custom Shop wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif

They are just sooo incredible smile.gif

Posted by: FrankW Sep 27 2008, 02:23 AM

Here's two guitars that do it for me. The ESP has EMGs and the Soloist has Seymour Duncans. The guitars are obviously very similar otherwise. Ebony fretboards, neck-through, Floyds, beautiful tops...gimme!

Posted by: sidewas lightning Sep 27 2008, 02:33 AM

I'm building mine right now... I hope. huh.gif

Posted by: Fsgdjv Sep 28 2008, 10:56 AM

Some kind of custom built PRS with a piezo pickup, 24 frets and no whammy bar would be my dream guitar.

Posted by: Rooks Sep 28 2008, 11:35 AM

I'd like an Ibanez JEM 20th special edition in clear acrylic with green swirl tongue.gif That guitar is just too psychedelic

Posted by: OzRob Sep 28 2008, 11:48 AM

I think I have mine. biggrin.gif

But i wouldt mind some custom PRS, Ibanez Jem (especially that psychyedylic one:P) or some b.a. Dean Razorback:P

Currently ANY guitar would be my dream guitar lol. I just moved into Gold Coast ,Australia and I didn't bring any of my
guitars. A whole month without guitars..I don't know how I'm still alive mellow.gif

Posted by: metalpete Sep 28 2008, 09:51 PM

What about buckethead's LP Matt? tongue.gif

I didn't vote as I just can't choose just one guitar. There are so many awesome guitars out there, SGs, Strats, LPs, Super Strats.... and I like them all!

Posted by: Antonio23 Sep 28 2008, 11:19 PM

i donĀ“t know much about guitar hardware, but to me a dream guitar must have a great sustain, good tone and the perfect tremolo bar.by the way,the floyd rose is a good and reliable tremolo right?
i saw this guitar at a local store.got my attention biggrin.gif

I've changed my mind!
Yes, I have now found the guitar of my dreams..
I even had the pleasure to try one the other day, and what amazed me was that even though I tried various guitars like Tom Anderson, Suhr and Tyler, this particular guitar was noticably better imo.
The neck was great, the overall playability was almost scary, the sound (coming from a Egnater Rebel 20) was sweet and the look of the guitar is not of this world! Everything about this guitar is just... Perfect!

http://www.godlyd.no/objects/window_gallery.asp?folder=6789&cursor=3&browse=1

^^ Check out the link, that's the actual guitar I tried smile.gif

It costs about 6-7000$ ph34r.gif but one day I need to get one wub.gif
The pickup rings are cut from ebony, as are the tuning pegs/wings (and fretboard of course).
It's semi-hollow, one piece exceptional curl redwood top.

This is worthy of being the guitar of my dreams!

http://nikhuber-guitars.com/2006_home.htm

Check it out, everything he makes look fantastic.
Metored by Paul Reed Smith himself in the eraly days and was head of repairs in Europe on PRS guitars a while ago.
He knows his stuff laugh.gif

Posted by: Artemus May 8 2009, 12:53 PM

Voted "other". For quite some time now, my dream guitar has been a customised Vigier Excaliber

...7000$? ohmy.gif In my opinion there is no need for such guitars unless you are a virtuoso, or somewhere near smile.gif Like the depth of color on that.

I know it's a lot, but why should those guitars be reserved virtuoso players?
Heck, I'm a great rythm guitar player but solos confuse the cells out of me laugh.gif

I think everybody that wants one and has the means to buy one, should get one if they want it enough smile.gif

Never heard about Luca Turilli signature, it`s JEM, but only customized?

Posted by: berko May 8 2009, 01:52 PM

Woo, this thread is quite old and I haven't seen it so far.

For me it's pretty obvious: PRS Custom 24, bird inlays, if possible a 10 Top and some kind of blue finish (whale blue or blue matteo). I would swap the HFS pups to Dragon IIs! cool.gif With trem, preferably a 2007-2009 model.

Posted by: Pedja Simovic May 8 2009, 02:24 PM

I voted PRS !

One of the best guitars I have played. Would probably get some custom model once I get like 100.000 $ in my bank account laugh.gif

Nah, I've made a few guitars myself..but I meant to write that in the future tense, as in, I would like Mr. Vigier to make me a custom guitar with his own two hands biggrin.gif
I wouldn't have the courage to tinker with such a quality (expensive) guitar myself

I got mine, a black 91 Jackson soloist pro and a Taylor 814 CE, but I think they are lonely and need a few more brothers. biggrin.gif I'd love to have another soloist of the quality I now have, but I'd like it to be white with a reverse headstock. Unfortunately the only way I could get it with the neck thru would be $3,000+ through the custom shop. ohmy.gif
I've also been eyeing the Talyor NS-62, such a beautiful guitar, but I want to hear how it sounds first and nobody carries it in stock. mad.gif
