hey guys,

how would i go about connect my multi effect pedal to the power amp of my blackstar ht-5 head?

i believe you can connect it to either the send or return and that bypasses the heads pre amp so basically you can use the multi effect pedal as a pre amp correct?

but which one is it smile.gif

thanks!

Not 100% sure but if you want to use your Amp as a poweramp you have plug the preamp/efx pedal into the return input!

Using Return will make the head function as a power amp. smile.gif
So you plug guitar into preamp/fx, then go to return in the head, and then from head to cab. smile.gif

Edit:
Use Send when you want to send the audio from the head.
Use Return when you want audio to be sendt/returned to the head.

I use a BOSS GT-PRO as effects and preamp to my Randall RH300G3 head, and that is how I have it connected. smile.gif

That's right, to bypass the preamp you go to the return jack. And the guitar cord goes into the multieffect ofc. smile.gif

EDIT:
Send/Fx out is from the preamp
Return/Fx in is into the poweramp.

I've tried all thinkable connections of a Line6 X3 Live into a tube amp and wasn't particulary happy with the result in either position. Didn't get a convincing result running the X3 set in "preamp" mode into return.

Before the amp, with amp modeling and running on the clean channel was the nicest after all. Which, in all theory and suggestions you read in forums is how to NOT use it. Worked the best for me though. Less "plastic" than the other combinations.
