hey muris! just bought the pandora recently. i noticed that you use it for all of your lessons. i was wondering if you could share the settings you use for the srv lesson. also, mabe some other settings you like, and have found use for. also, does your new guitar have custom pickups as well, or did you go thru a pickup company? (duncan, dimarzio etc...)

thanks tons. i might ask for more of your settings from other lessons too biggrin.gif hope its not too much trouble. i never would have thought to match the guitar heads with bass cabs like that.... brilliant. thanks again!

Posted by: muris Sep 22 2007, 08:23 PM

No problem smile.gif

As the matter of fact,I use those settings as some sort of base.
Everything I do to make "new" sound is adding more gain, messing a bit with EQ etc.
But head, cab and EFX stay the same. wink.gif

hey muris. loved the tone on the luke lesson. what settings did you use? (aside from amp and cab - if their the same) i find matching your settings helps me to find more settings and tones that i like on the ol' pandora.
thanks a lot!!

also - ive never gotten into toto much, but id like too. any song/album suggestions? i really liked the luke style and sound. sounds like my cup of tea.

Posted by: muris Sep 28 2007, 05:30 AM

There's also a compilation cd called 'Past to Present 1977-1990' and a greatest hits cd for Toto. He's literally appeared on 100's of other artists' cds as a session/guest.

Africa, Hold the Line, Rosanna like Muris says are classic Lukather/Toto.

Cheers,
Tony

hello muris your sound is very good so i looking into the pandora box to.
i now have the pod xt and very happy with that, but no cd in and no metronome/drum machine
and since i travel a lot i need something to give me everything in a small box.

but i have one concern and that is the nuno bettencourt sound. can it to that,
i´m talking about the crisp bright distinctive dirty sound from pornografitti album
i need that.
the rest i think i have heard with your lessons.

thanks if you can reply this. and if it can the pod xt is for sale.

thanks for the lessons you are great

Posted by: Muris Feb 18 2008, 05:55 AM

You can't have that tone 100% from Pandora cause Nuno was using tube amps and real cabinets
to record that album,it's simple as that.
But you can get something similar I guess, yeah. smile.gif

Hey Muris thanks for sharing your settings!, I dialed them into PX5D and they sound better than any of the presets.

Just one doubt: How do you dial in the mids? The wheel I have is Gain/Mids, and it seems to change the gain, but how do I change the mids with it? I swear I'm reading the manual, but don't find how to do this.

Sounds good anyway, but I'd like to dial the mids too.

Posted by: Muris Varajic Aug 10 2008, 04:59 PM

Midds are actually dialed with large wheel on the right
but you can dial them only once you are in amp section.
Gain,Bass,Treble and Volume can be dialed any time
and those are small wheels at the top of the panel. smile.gif

Hi again Muris, just one more doubt:

I see some of your lesson settings use the SGL>HUM 10 (like your latest begginers penta licks), and others use a Hum>SGL 1.7.

Do you do that because you really need need to change the sound from sgl to hum, or just because it sounds better?

My guitar only has humbuckers, should I just turn off that in my case, when it's SGL>HUM 10, but turn it on it when it's Hum>SGL?

Posted by: Muris Varajic Aug 14 2008, 01:31 AM

I used SGL>HUM on MusicMan mostly,
it has 2 VERY hot Stan's humbucker pickups
so I had to calm it down a little.
You should try both ways and see what fits best for you,
every guitar sounds differently so be sure
to tweak EQs little bit as well. smile.gif

Ok, Thanks Muris, will do wink.gif

Hi Muris,

I've recenly purchased a Pandora PX4D and I would like to say thank you. My Line 6 is now resting for a while. I've programmed in some of your setting; SRV and Odd Grooves and am back practising Odd Grooves again.
I'm going through the presets that I like and will reposition these to the U01-U10 for easier access including your settings
Bye for now and wishing you all the best for the new year

Hman smile.gif

Posted by: Muris Varajic Dec 24 2008, 07:59 AM

I'm glad you've found those settings useful!

Cheers and best wishes for new year as well. smile.gif

hman , how is that Pandora compared to your line 6 (type ?) ?

I've got the Previous Pandora. Gonna try the settings out tonight !

Posted by: not2secure4u Jan 18 2009, 05:49 PM

Muris, I got A Pandora PX5D here and I'm amazed by the sounds. I've got both the toneport (line6) and the px5d. But if I want to record I got a reasonable lag. Do you put your px4 directly in a soundcard ? (probably yes) Wich type of soundcard ?

thx !

Posted by: Muris Varajic Jan 18 2009, 06:41 PM

Sound card is E-MU 1820m and I go directly, yeah.
I think there is a review in reviews board,
I explained everything there about Pandora
and my way of connecting/recording with it,
check it out. smile.gif

Hi Muris

I recently bought pandora px4, it seems to be allmost the same as the px4d but I cant get the Jazz 1x15 effect. Do you have any advices about how to make my pandora px4 have the same sound as your px4d in your lessons when you use Jazz 1x15?
I allso wonder what settings you use in the greg howe competition on youtube, love that sound smile.gif

Thanks

Posted by: Muris Varajic Feb 8 2009, 01:35 PM

Yeah, Jazz 1x15 is an emulated 15" bass cab and there is no such on PX4. sad.gif
You cab try with some other guitar cab(maybe 2x12) but compensate it
with adding more bass and less treble.

Not sure what I used for Greg's competition but try this( with tweak I mentioned above).
SGL > HUM 10.0
US HI-G Gain 6.3 Bass 2.0 Middle 6.7 Treble 7.0
JAZ 1x15 8.0
Chorus 1 0.32
PPDLy3 5.3
PLATE 2 4,3

I believe there was a chorus effect there as well
but it doesn't sound the best once Youtube converts it into mono. smile.gif

Posted by: ErikEklund Feb 8 2009, 01:47 PM

yeah I tried 2x12 BLK and added some more bass and now its much better smile.gif

Thank you very much Muris smile.gif

Posted by: Muris Varajic Feb 8 2009, 05:53 PM

Glad it helped, you're welcome Erik. smile.gif
