Dirty Dancing, Ghost - great roles ...

When I was 10 yrs old I was in a dance competition that was judged by Patrick and his mother Patsy. I had the the opportunity to spend a day with them as I had won my category and got to take part in a private dance class with them both. I can tell you they are two of the nicest people I ever met in my life. Patrick was very down to earth, and was very happy to spend time and help out us kids with our dancing smile.gif He told us stories of taking dance lessons from his mom, and how she instilled in him his work ethic and how just how to treat people. He answered so many questions and just hung out like a regular guy with us kids. He certainly didn't give you the impression that he was a big movie star (this was just after Dirty Dancing came out and I can assure you that there were lots of girls gushing over him) He cracked jokes, and made us all feel very relaxed as well it was pretty intimidating having the director of the Houston Ballet and a Joffrey graduate showing you the ropes. Having a private dance class with Patrick Swayze and his mother is a highlight from my childhood. He was such a graceful dancer and such a gracious person. I didn't continue with my dancing... hockey and baseball kinda took over... but I have never forgot the lessons I had with them and what they taught me on the dance floor and off.

He was a great man and he will be missed by many. RIP Patrick... I'm sure they are waiting in heaven for some dance lessons.

Nice lifestory Rokchik. I listened the news this pasted morning and I felt terribly bad about him. I grew up watching his movies.

Thanks Fran smile.gif

I had the opportunity when I was in dancing to meet many great dancers and choreographers. But Patrick and his mom were probably the nicest and most down to earth. Not fake like some and caught up in their own hype. REAL people.

So sad...
