I've been listening to the album Cruelty and the Beast by Cradle of Filth recently. It's a concept album about Elizabeth Bathory, which relates to my other post here about legends.

The lyrics and melodies really capture you and make you feel an attachment to the main character and when the album ends, you don't know what to do with yourself because you were so drawn into another world.

So, what are your favourite concept albums and what are they about ?

Am I allowed to call "Cradle of filth - Damnation and a day" a concept album?
It is really good. It contains a lot of references to all the old religions, battle between good and evil, but maybe a bit hard to decide who is really evil.

I'll recommend "Dio - Magica" too
A magic univers with some peace loving people who get invaded by some others, who want to destroy their way of life.
It's about heroes and important feelings.
Maybe you should just check it out, one of the tracks is also a real story being told about this universe, by a storyteller

I love American Idiot, great concept album by Green Day.
And I really love Nightfall in middle earth by Blind Guardian.
Best one for me is Metropolis Pt. 2 by Dream Theater though, great story, great music, it all just fits together.

Ayreon, to say I have an obsession with the massive story that has spanned many albums would be a massive understatement.

I always enjoyed "Metropolis pt 2" by Dream Theater. American Idiot by Green Day is also great!
