Hi there, I am reposting this thread in Uploads section as Trond told me that in the Uploads (members only) section, the chances that it will be noticed are much smaller. Hope this isn't against the forum rules. The same topic on Uploads (members only) section could be deleted.

Here are two of my takes at Tronds Picking Exercise. Both aren't perfect, but I thought that it would be better to show the average version, rather than spend whole night, and upload the best out of one hundred takes:D

One is with the backing track, and second one is without it.

Comments and criticism more than welcome, I need a better pair of ears than mine, to hear what should be better;)

EDIT: if it really is so bad, don't worry and tell me;)

EDIT2: I just noticed that I wrote "is it that worse" - well I never denied that I can't use proper language..

You have to work on the muting..

Thanks Supersize. I know that muting is the biggest challenge for me, but I don't know how to practice it... When I try to mute everything I am "blowing myself back to stone age" - I just can't play anything.. Maybe it is a mental blockade I don't know:/

What i did to become good at uting was that i played a lot of palm muted riffs and then it just came by itself

Another one of my favourite lessons - looks like you have the notes down for the most part - need some work on the parts where Trond uses his speed bursts and as supersize has mentioned - you will need to work on your muting but that will come with practice.

I am glad you are not trying to go too fast on this one - I have no idea how Trond gets up to the speed he does and make it seem so easy. If you want to increase your speed on this one take it easy and slow - this one can kill your arm if you don't do this one in a relaxed fashion (I am pretty sure this lesson hurt my arm when I tried going 110bpm when I really only feel relaxed at 80-90). I made a vow after hurting my arm that I would be more concerned about the music or exercise than speed - I am now perfectly content at playing most picking intense lessons like this one at 75% - no doubt more speed will come with time as you learn to relax (and breathe).

This lesson is really good for increasing the reach for your fretting hand - if you ever had problems picking notes 5 frets apart, you will no longer have that problem.

On a side note - my wife banned me from playing this exercise while she is in the house - I once played this for over an hour (without realizing I was banging my foot very heavily) until she finally put her own foot down. I've tried sneaking it in very quietly at times but somehow she knows right away.

Haha my girlfiend also asks "You're still playing the same thing?", but I try to convince her, that if she want to have a good guitar player in the house, this is a must;)

And yeah playing it faster than when You are comfortable makes my little finger hurts, 80bpm is fast enough for me, I still do some mistakes in this speed, 70bpm is "flawless" speed for this one for me. I had to re-learn the speed burst parts, as I learned it without economy picking, and when I realized that, I started from the beginning.

Witam Marku, slucham Twej gry bez backingtracku bo tutaj slychac najlepiej. Sugerowalbym znacznie mniej gainu(najlepiej cwiczyc bez przesteru), brzmienie bedzie o wiele bardziej selektywne. Poza tym wyrazne slychac puls i o to chodzi! Pozdrawiam :-)

Thanks Piotr! I agree that practicing without gain is important, but If I would upload my playing without any effect/gain, You wont hear that I should mute the strings more;)
