Well Zakk has signature everything so you could just go out and buy them all. laugh.gif
Or you could just go EMG 81-85, Gibson Les Paul, and Marshall with Groove Tubes. But if you can't afford any equipment right now, I would just crank the gain on my amp, max the bass and treble, and stick the mids at about 1 o'clock. After that I would tune my guitar to drop-D and chug and squeel my way to ZakkLand. tongue.gif

Per an interview with GuitarWorld, he used Pro Tools to drop it down another step from Drop C. So if you play with really fat strings, you might be able to just go to drop B.

Dropped B is just too much. unsure.gif

Anyway, try to set a good nice trebly hi gain sound and emulate some of his techniques. What amp do you have? Marshall would definitely help for his sound..

I don't disagree that drop B is like playing with spaghetti strings but if you really want to go after that sound, that's what he's doing. The muted parts will sound heavier in a lower tuning. I only play with 10s so drop C is as far as I go.
