I guess it's quite like what I do, I however have a very slight movement of the wrist without the pick tip moving away or digging into the string. That really boosts speed and took me ages to learn on standard picks and many Todd Lessons, heh. Reduce the distance/movement and reduce the resistants = way more natural speed with less effort. Make sure you do the same for the other hand, finding the "lightest" touch for the fretboard, also reduce finger distance, and sync them with the picking.
