GMC Forum _ Bands and Guitarists _ Metallica To Begin Work On New Album 2011...?

Posted by: WeePee Nov 13 2010, 08:44 AM

I think most people have seen this already but I just read this in http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/news/upcoming_releases/metallica_to_begin_work_on_new_album.html.

So after playing last live shows in New Zealand, Metallica will start work on a new album. And according to Ulrich's that's in March or April 2011 !!

“We haven’t really written since, what, ’06, ’07, and we want to get back to kind of just being creative again. Right now we are going to just chill out and then probably start up again in, I’d say, March or April, and start probably putting the creative cap back on and start writing some songs.”

So question is what YOU will expect for a new 'tallica album ?

I think that mixing Black and Load albums would be great. More of a hard rocking/blues albums would be great. And damn you Kirk if you just play solo's without thinking 'cos IMO most of Death Magnetic solo were bad. dry.gif

Comments ?!

To be honest I don't care, the last two albums were not good enough for me, so I don't expect anything good from another one also. Also if they'll make some decent songs, it will be a nice surprise:P

Death Magnetic wasn't half as bad as some people, make out.. it was definitely on the right track again. I don't think we can guess what they're going to do next.. as long as it has a MUCH BETTER PRODUCTION than the last 2.....!!!!!!!!!!! mad.gif

Well I admit that DM wasn't a bad album, just that it wasn't good either. Without those few minutes long, boring instrumental sections and horrible production, it could be quite nice.

They have been trending more toward a "Live" sound over the past several albums. It's hard to not want them to return to the more technical and frankly more Metal sound on Master of Puppets and Ride The Lightning. This is partially nostalgia, arguably, as tons of folks love the new sound. I'm just not one of them. Don't get me wrong, I don't want them to make the same album over and over forever, but recognizing some of their "roots" in Thrash, Speed Metal, and doing even a few tunes that were closer to that vein would certainly encourage me to start listening/buying again.

I did like some songs on the DM album. Tracks 1 2 3 and cyanide were kind of cool. Nothing like AJFA though

I hope they would try to sound like the black album in terms of production. Really big, epic type of production not too livey smile.gif

I think they could get away with it

such a shame with Metallica really, you know when I was a teen I litteraly would die for metallica (my musical knowledge was not very wide ) anyways. that was before load come out so I had only the good albums to judge them by... well they do some good songs on each album but it seems like they kill them with solo´s and the quality of the sound.. and what is it with the sound of the snare drum??? well to sum it up, am i excited... na not really but I do live in the hope of a new black album wink.gif

Not sure we have to wait and see. Last two were indeed bad (or I got older for that kind of music). But I still like all the old stuff, specially 'lightning' & 'and justice'. I know these are new times but there is something magical with that kind of (for today's standards terrible) production, not to mention energy and songs - legendary.
