I'm thinking about buying a new electric and am looking for suggestions.
Price range: $300-500
Style: mostly rock, little blues, not really looking to shred
I like ibanez, epiphone, ect. not picky on the brand.

In my opinion the best guitar for that price is a Fender Standard Stratocaster.

hi, i tend to prefer the fender telecasters the most. I have a tele myself and I love it but I think if you want to find the perfect guitar just head down to your local music store and try out every guitar that catches your eye(don't be shy) and just try them until you fall in love with one.

How bout a bc. rich mockingbird? They are perfect rock guitars. Same with any type of Les Paul.

If you wanna keep it simple go for either that Fender Standard that coffeeman said, or why not a Tele like dan30music recommended. Or a LP for a different sound.
Depends on your preferences really.
And in General I'd say between the Squier (if you go for that) and Epiphone my own conclusion is that Epiphone is the better of the two, closes to the original. Heck, I've not been able to intonate my Squier correctly even. (will have another go again some other time, maybe I will have a different opinion when I find out what was the problem)

Then I'm sure you can play rock and blues on a Mockinbird aswell, it just has that.... special look.

For 400-500$ you can get a killer Ibanez guitar! Look at the GEAR REVIEW section, and you might just find what you need.
