My Ibanez Experience

Today at the end of my lesson with my instructor he handed me his guitar and said "Here try this for a bit.". He has a 10th Anniversary Ibanez Jem. Oh my gosh! Now I understand what the big deal is all about. I've always had the idea of purchasing an Ibanez (I'm a Steve Vai fan...hehehe) but never had the chance to really sit down and take one for a test spin. The neck is so thin...action very low....neck work is quick. I love it! The thing is SMOOOOOOOTH.

I tried to sneak out with his guitar but that didn't work wink.gif

Anyway just thought I'd share my experience and needless to say I will be keeping my eye out for any good deals on an Ibanez. From what I've seen on the board adnything RG and higher is what's recommended?

Yeah, the prestige series RG's are definitely the way to go in my opinion

That's why I love my Ibanez so much. Its not anywhere near the topmodels but still I managed to lower the action enough for me to play comfortable, and still having the guitar sound properly. I tried that with an Les Paul, and screwed it up, tried with a guitar of friend (which was a BC Rich I think...), screwed up as well.

I don't know whether I'll be stuck with Ibanez for the rest of my guitarplaying days, but untill I find a better alternative, I'll just keep rocking my Destroyer tongue.gif

edited: making it simple, if you don't wrap your thumb, things change drastically.

I love my Jackson guitars smile.gif.

The neck on the USA Jacksons is simply a work of art. The way the binding curves inward toward the frets, the compound fret radius, the amazing jet black ebony fingerboards, real mother of pearl inlays, plus the smoothness and mirror polish of the frets themselves is just instant inpiration every time I pick up my guitar. The action can also be set incredibly low as well.

I think the prestige Ibanez's and USA Jacksons are tied for the top shred machine with the top of the line Deans next in line. I slightly prefer the Jackson neck because of binding and compound radius, but I loved the RGT 220 also. You've really gotta try both, once you do, you'll know for for sure which one's the right choice for you.
