Hello friends! Welcome to a new "connecting melodies" thread for the Creativity Workout series.
This one consists in connecting melodic lines over a backing track that I will share here. In other words, this means that we'll be creating a song together. It will be very interesting to listen to melodies we create by connecting guitar lines and by being influenced by each other. I think that this experiment can be a very rich experience for everybody. Besides the backing track I will also provide a word or phrase that reflects the feeling that we would like to convey while creating the melodies. How does this work? 1. I share a backing track and a word which reflects a feeling. 2. The first participant (A) downloads the backing, records a '2 or 4' measures melody/arrangement over it and uploads an audio with the whole backing and his take. (please share an only guitar file for future mixing) 2. The next participant (B ) downloads participant's (A) file and records a 2 measures melody next to (B )’s take. 3. Participant ( C ) downloads (B )’s file and does the same. 4. We keep building the tune by extending lines and melodic ideas together Some rules and suggestions: - The melodies / arrangement should last 2 or 4 measures and can be created with guitar, vocals or other instruments. - I will give 10 days to play each backing until we discuss the result and start with a new one. - Remember to allow downloads If you use Soundcloud. - Save original files in your computer! We might want to re-mix it later. - Please upload a file that only contains your guitar to let me do experiments. - Don’t be shy. This workout is appropriate for all levels: BEGINNERS, INTERMEDIATE AND ADVANCED. - Feel free to contact me if you need help with recording, mix down and uploading the files. BACKING I This is the backing that we'll use: Ballad_Soloing___D_Major.mp3 ( 5.26MB ) Number of downloads: 572 It's in D major, and I borrowed it from this amazing lesson: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Ballad...s-And-Phrasing/ Backing track progression: 4/4 ||: D | D | G | G | Em | Em | A | A :|| Tempo: 140 bpm. I'd love to have a go but how do we decide who goes next? Will it just be first to submit at each stage?
I don't think I'll be able to enter this week though Gab, as discussed in our thread Cheers -------------------- SEE MY GMC CERTIFICATE “Success is not obtained overnight. I really don't know. Sorry. Maybe let them make a take based on when the say "I'm in". Apart from me as my time is too short this week. So the next person to say "I'm in", creates the first part and so on. This means anyone can join a bit later on in the week and know when they should do their part.

OK I'll start the ball rolling and set the mood
There's a bit of fret buzz on the first note, if you need me to re-record I can but I think it gets lost in the mix. https://soundcloud.com/gmcphil-1/ballad-soloing-d-major-with-whole-backing https://soundcloud.com/gmcphil-1/ballad-soloing-d-major-guitar-only Cheers -------------------- SEE MY GMC CERTIFICATE “Success is not obtained overnight.
