GMC Forum _ Introduce Yourself ! _ Another New Guy

Posted by: CodyPaul Feb 29 2008, 11:04 AM

Saw the youtube video and decided I too, want to learn to use my bad motherfinger and get many many many womens (just don't tell the wife...)

Actually just being friendly and saying hello. I've been looking at the site for at least a year now thinking "someday"
Why someday? Well best answer is I was waiting to pay off all my credit cards. (Which I've almost done biggrin.gif )
True answer is I'm just afraid to. Bought all kinds of books and videos and almost never look at them. Don't need to pay for something else I won't use. Been working seven days a week and don't have time. Only practice time is midddle of the night while wife sleeps behind me. Lets see what other excuses can I come up with? Have lots. So I finally gave in. ( Besides I REALLY want the new Gretsch 5122 and if I learn to play I'll go a lot further to convincing the wife I need it rolleyes.gif Actually I want a Country Gentleman, and Tennessee Rose, and a Rickenbacker and a, ummm well you get the idea) And I'm here everyday looking at the licks and videos anyway so....

Oh, who am I? My name is Cody. I live in Texas and I'm 47 (think an old dog can still learn a new trick?) I have 3 sons and a daughter who of course think I'm nuts. And I have several guitars none of which I can play. Well, two songs Amazing Grace and What child is this, just not so's you could actually recognize them sad.gif

As for guitars I have an Epiphone Basher ( I think they call them Les Paul Jr.s now) that was my first one. An Epiphone Les Paul Standard Plus I won on EBay by accident, and absolutely love. A Stagg. And a Rickenbacker clone of unknown make but my favorite to bang around on. As for acoustics I have a Stella and a Suzuki. I keep telling my wife I'm buying them for the kids to learn with but I don't think she believes me anymorre. Especially since they won't touch them.

Ok I know, too much information but at 4 in the morning what can you expect... So I'll go now.

Welcome man. You should convince the kids to play guitar as well as it's great for meeting new people and having fun with. And you should practice as much as you can smile.gif However difficult. Good luck man and welcome to the GMC community.

Welcome. This site is like steroids for guitar playing. If you take advantage of what this site has to offer you will improve more in one year than most people do in 10. So don't worry about the late start. Oh, and no pesky " Roid Rage" as a side effect. Although if you have seen Kristofers' videos you may question this claim. tongue.gif
