Metallica was the first band i listened to that made me want to pick up a guitar around 10 years ago.I learned all the Metallica songs from Kill em ALL to Load.So whats your favorite Metallica song ?Are they a insperation to you on the guitar?/

Posted by: ibanezkiller Jul 17 2007, 01:32 AM

Yes they are the best and thats also what got me playing... the intro riff from enter sandman was the first thing i ever learned.... but the best... seek and destroy

Posted by: Asphyxia Feeling Jul 17 2007, 01:32 AM

hmm... "Holier Then Thou" is one of my favorites from Black Album... and the first time i heard "The Thing That Should Not Be", it struck me as the heaviest song i had ever heard in my life. so i dig it. smile.gif

Yeah, actually, since you're mentioning it. I did have some blues solos in my band, and it worked very well! I personally cant stand this "Blues Metal" thing, for me music got to have feeling, and of what I've heard from this genre its just plain boring. But with our style of black metal I think it fits great. We even had a song that was almost blues, I guess you could just call it old hard rock or something. But my band mates arent really into blues, jazz and that kind of stuff so they wont let me do solos anymore. Suppose I got to start some shredding biggrin.gif

On topic: Man I just watched Master of Puppets on youtube, JESUS its such an amazing song. I havent heard it in many years.

For Whom The Bell Tolls

Posted by: Anastasio123 Jul 17 2007, 06:17 AM

Fade to Black

(Yea all Ride the Lightning stuff, but that's the only real metallica that's been introduced to me and I love it...kill me for saying but I have also heard St. Anger and I really didn't think it was that bad of a hard rock album) ohmy.gif

I don't like St. Anger much, but I loved load and reload was okay as well. Definitely leagues better than St. Anger, yet people still hate them. You really should check out more metallica though! Ride is a good album though.

everything from ride the lightning, mainly creeping death and for whom the bell toles but all the other songs are amazing too. some of my other favorite's are enter sandman and sad but true

I've been listening to Metallica so much lately however ya know I'm not a huge die-hard fan so I don't have any problem sayin that if I had to choose one album, it would be black. However I like everything from the garage days to justice for all. The only album I could do without is S&M, everything else has something that is stellar.

I'd say those are the tops in my list. Although I've only learned: Master of Puppets, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Fade to Black, One, Nothing Else Matters.

The tapping one. The beat is just very hard for me. The clean ones are a breeze compared to it.

what i dont like about that solo is that when you change the note that you are tapping (i assume you start on the 19th fret, E string) you can barely hear/notice it, until you move to the B string. Does it happens to you?

Battery
Master
Four horseman

I hope that some day they do a re-master version of St Anger. I think that some of the songs are pretty interesting but the recording/production was awful (and intentionally so). That reheaersal video sounded a lot better.

Blackened
...And Justice for All
Harvester of Sorrow

I don't know if I'd call it "progressive". Maybe some elements as there are a lot of odd time signatures and changes. Not quite like Dream Theater though.

my favourite metallica song is of Wolf and man, i dont know why, it just is
im not really inspired though

Posted by: Jeffrey Jul 19 2007, 03:49 AM

I can hear my 19th fret(e) even when i'm tapping. you just have to tap very hard when u start getting up higher=) + the frets are smaller so persicion is very important. I dont know if its easy to play with my type of guitar but I imagine it is considering it is prety much made for metallica's style=P

Posted by: The Uncreator Jul 19 2007, 04:14 AM

also having the highest output pickups possible is good, otherwise you will have to tap harder.

Hey Slash -

You can get more of a tap sound if you slightly slide your pick as you tap. It takes a little practice but it can bring out the tap note. It's almost as if you're trying to scratch some dirt off your 19th fret with your pick really fast! If that makes sense! lol

Just my two cents!
