Hey GMC-ers!

As you all know i have redesigned my website and it will stay like this from now on. The only problem i have is the spam-bots ruining my guestbook! So, i was wondering if any of you IT specialists here know how to simply protect my guestbook without buying any source from websites or using predefined guestbooks from other sites.

Any help here?

Thanks

I dont know what its called or how to do it, but you know when you register sometimes, or write in guestbooks, you got to write some weird letters and numbers before you can post biggrin.gif Thats what we did on my bands website. We got totally spammed 24/7, but it all stopped when we added that to our guestbook.

Yeah, as Robin says. The pictureized letter confirmation, whatever it's called, is pretty effective. There is ways around that too, but common bots won't use such techiques.

Yeah that protection is cool but i don't know how to make a PHP code for it. I mean for self-generating image with random numbers.

Robin: if you know the code can you please PM it to me?

Rvddps gave me an awesome idea on MSN and i already put it on guestbook. I think it should work. I'll know it tomorrow because the spambots leave a couple of messages every day.

Robin - thanks, you don't have to do it for now. Let's see if Rvddps's way works. If not - i'll let you know!
