GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ Repost Older Great Lessons

Posted by: fire Oct 10 2008, 05:04 PM

hey guys

as gmc has now over 1000 lessons, what would u think about putting 1 older "great" or special lesson that became maybe kind of "forgotten" wink.gif on the mainpage every day / week / hour biggrin.gif / dont know..

this idea just came to my mind when browsing through the lessons archive and i thougt it would be cool to have some of the good, old lessons back on the mainpage once again -

what do you think tongue.gif ??

cheers

yeah like a top 20 lessons of all time or something!

Or even a top 5 for each category (metal, blues, jazz ect)

That's a great idea.

Hell yea!!! Lessons from the vault! My personal favorite lesson ever is Kris' Phrasing lesson, it always inspires. smile.gif

There are a lot of great lessons buried deep in the lesson vaults, thats for sure smile.gif I think Kris is thinking along the same lines cause I believe we'll see a video rating feature soon, so there will be a top x videos.

Gabriels lessons and Pavels older lessons are the holy grail for a lot of techniques. I think a from the vault idea would be terrific...

I don't really like the idea of rating lessons.. I mean, it does have it's positive side wich will motivate the instructors the best lessons they can, but on the other hand, I think that if a lesson would get low rating that it could really discourage, if not humiliate an instructor..

Yea, I see this as the main problem for a rating feature, maybe making it so that you must explain the reason for the rating will justify it.

But having to explain the rating is going to discourage GMCers from even leaving ratings then, or cause them to leave a better than deserved rating just because they don't want to offend somebody.

I think the rating could work, because the more people rate, the more of an average it will be. If a lesson gets really low ratings by many users, then the instructor needs to be aware that it wasn't well received.

Or instead of ratings, just post the top lessons by sheer usage - That is going to tell users which are most popular.

It can get much easier than that -

Just make 20 most watched videos from older time(put some date limit)

OR

Everyone has one vote for lesson (daily.. or something),nobody will know the amount, only the most popular lessons will be shown, but even those instructors wouldnt know how many they had..

just my 0.02 smile.gif

EDIT Srry doublepost..

Hmm and if only the instructors could see the ratings that would be perfect I think..

I agree ratings should be visible to instructors only.

In that case a bad rate would not mean public humiliation, but just feedback to improve...

I support the idea of reintroducing some older great lessons, but don't really know how to do it. IMO these lessons shouldn't be on the top list, but something more neutral, since all the people here have neutral preference, so this list will not be suitable for everyone if you know what I mean.

Lessons can already be browsed through search engine, there are random lessons displayed, and similar lesson tab in lessons that point out to different lessons.
