Harmonic Minor Modes/other Modes Options

SO I finally figured out the concept for the modes of the major scale, building the chords etc, example C maj scale, will give you 7 modes C ionian, D dorian, E phrygian, F lydian, G mixolydian , A aeolean and B locrian..

now I decided to explore more lol and I learned that there's modes within the Harmonic Minor scale as well, My question is, what other scales can you build modes from? can you build modes off of any scale or only Harmonic minor.melodic and major scales? Thanks and Happy Holidays everyone!

Sorry for changing Your path but I would ask myself different question and redirect my current practice to something else. Once I had my theory period and unfortunately I do not remember more than half of what I knew. You know why? I didn't use them in my regular playing

Great You decided to get familiar with most common modes. Now try to make yourself an experiment. Find simple track within one key. Name the chords and try to improvise thinking about it in 2 ways:

1. Thinking of one scale all over the track

2. Thinking on proper scale, refering to each chord in tghe particular moment You're playing that chord It can be really interesting

What are you gonna do with it - ?

Here's the most common application using a 'mode' within the Harm. Min. scale ...
Over a static E7 chord, use the 5th mode of the A harmonic minor scale: E F G# A B C D (E)

I'll deff give that a try Darius, i'm trying to learn more theory so I can try new weird things lol, it kinda keeps it fun for me that way.
I know about he Phrygian Dominant mode, I really enjoy the sound of it, it's one of my favorites, But I stumbled upon this video and was very curios as to what he's doing here, there's all these other modes I never knew existed anyone familiar with them? or that could explain them to me? is it the same concept as the major scale modes just using a harmonic minor scale instead? some weird tension that sounds cool

In case of scales it is really a pure math You own it once You get familiar with rules "how to buid those" and relations "root scale for particular mode".
