GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ Mayones Duncan Gutiar Contest 2014

Posted by: Patrik Berg Jul 24 2014, 03:30 AM

Hello again my fellow guitarists,
so I found out yesterday that there was this comp to win a 7 string Mayones Regius and I listened to the backing track and thought it sounded good. I made up a solo last night and recorded it this morning and now I'm on my knees begging for votes. I'm not the fastest player by a long shot and there are some amazing entries but if you're interested in having a listen to my solo then go to http://bit.ly/Up3CwN and vote for me cool.gif
My next challenge will be the Hufschmidt comp with Darius backing track which I'm finding a bit more difficult to write a solo too.

Thanks in advance for those of you who vote for me

On Mayones page they said that the voting start today at 1:00 AM but I tried to vote and they don't let me at this moment. I will try later wink.gif

Now, I hardly wait to see your entry for Hufschmid smile.gif

Thank you Monica,

I like to think that my solos are a reflection of me, a bit rough but simple biggrin.gif

Hey Pat, long time no see! How are you, man? Very, very nice lines here, solid tone and playing! I'd watch out for the bends in spots such as 0:44 and that phrase before which was a little blurry. I also noticed you are bending with your fingers more than your wrist - have you tried the full wrist so far? It helps me have more control, for instance, so I'd be curious how it feels for you smile.gif

You got my vote!

Hey Cosmin how have you been man smile.gif
I know precisely the points you mention but I've never payed attention to my bend technique so thank you for pointing that out, I will try the wrist tomorrow to see how that feels, and as alway thank you for your feedback.

Anytime man! I'm good, thank you, working hard as usual, but life is very nice and it offers a lot of beautiful things smile.gif

Well, in respect to the wrist motion, I would like you to take a look over this little video right here:

After seeing the wrist mechanics in action on your own hand - of course, if there are questions, please do ask me - I would recommend a few lessons which will work out your bending technique, such as:

http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/String-Bending/
http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/bending-control/
http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/D-Minor-Bending/

Focus on reaching the correct pitch and maintaining it, as these lessons are very good at providing the right kind of practice for that.

What do you think, Pat?
