In rock/ metal, the first beat is usually a very important element which if used properly, can add a huge dose of power to your riffs and playing in general.

How good are you with using this element - coming up with riffs emphasizing it, or being able to work with your drummer (if you play in a band) in order to get the most out of the first beat?

AC/DC is one of the bands that utilize this a LOT, and nobody dislikes ACDC, so they must be doing something that works biggrin.gif



Here's a legendary example of first beat emphasizing, with combinations of playing 8th note ahead of the first beat on some riffs too (important technique as well).
