Im looking for a good and easy to use video editor to improve the quality of my videos , what do you recommend guys?

Posted by: Pedja Simovic Oct 4 2008, 04:56 PM

Vegas 6.0 is the one I use , its very easy to use if you are looking to add brightness sharpness or any other effect.
Also Windows movie maker will work if you used it before.

How did you upload your videos to computer so far?

Thanks for the recomendation pedja. I record the videos with my photo cammera, I change the format with a video converter and thats it. The thing is that I want to improve the sound quality , Im recording the audio directly from the cammera and I want to record it in reaper or something and the sync it with the video. Vegas 6.0 alows me to do that?

I use Vegas 8.0 and of course it is possible to sync audio with your video.

Vegas will definitely allow you to sync audio with your video.
I record audio in Nuendo and record video with camcorder so later I sync them in Vegas!

Is there a trial version of Vegas? I heard it's very expensive...

A quick question though:
If I record sound and video in seperate programs (as I do now: the video with a Creative program, and the sound with Guitar Rig 3 simultaneously), is this sync function still as good?

Edit: Never mind, you answered my question before I was done posting it ^^
Thanks =)

Vegas has a number of versions moving from cheap to more expensive - even the cheaper ones will allow you to synch video, and the more expensive ones have additional professional capabilities. I have tried several different programs and Vegas is by far the best and easiest to work with!

Vegas is also my first choice, very fast to work with and intuitive. Zoom with a scroll wheel is far the best command they could implement in this app. I love it! smile.gif
Perhaps you can get some earlier version, Vegas 7 is quite good as well, and not so demanding, although it is not too multicore optimized. Vegas 8 has full multicore support, so it uses all the resources it can to cut down the rendering time.

Software to sync seperate audio files with video files, like Vegas smile.gif

Vegas is cool and very professional , but if you are on the budget use Windows movie maker. Its free and its already in your computer (comes with Windows). smile.gif

Another thing about Vegas is that with all its usability and accessibility, it is very professional.
You can crop videos like you crop images in photoshop, mix two or more videos, and use other professional effects to improve you image. Exporting is also easy, you can choose format and adjust resolution, audio and video codecs, frame rate...

Yeah, another thing is audio manipulation, when you import video you automatically get two tracks one for video and another for audio...

I would also recommend Vegas ! Its a very powerful software that will suit all your editing needs! Syncing and everything is very straightforward in it.Regarding video quality , I would recommend improving it at the source (like adding more lights when recording)..

Another vegas user here! Can't say enough good things about it.

Vegas here too. You could also check out Nero in case you are using this burning software, it also comes with a module to work on movie files.

Im definitely going to check vegas, I downloaded the evaluation version but haven't been able to install it because of a .net framkework thing, don't know whats happening, so I wont buy until I fix that. Thanks for the advice guys and thanks for the nero recommendation Marcus , im going to check it too.

A friend of mine told me that Vegas is unable to use .wmv files.. And I noticed that was the only kind of video file my webcam is able to record. Do anyone know of a good (free) video converter that can convert the files into whatever kind of videofile Vegas use?

Posted by: Bogdan Radovic Oct 10 2008, 12:41 AM

If I remember correctly Vegas works nicely with .wmv files....I don't have any to test right now but when I choose import there is .wmv and .wma on the list of supported extensions..Also I am definitely sure Vegas is able to render .wmv files.
