What you hear is a comp of multiple takes, stitched together, but only one guitar at a time. The effects are stereo though, so the sound is different on the two sides.

Little known about The Wall is that L.A. studio guitarist extraordinaire Lee Ritenour, according to a 2000 David Gilmore interview, "played one of the two high strums on "Comfortably Numb" and some rhythm guitar on "Is There Anybody Out There?"

The effects are done well so the stereo field is HUGE. However, doubling your solos is a great way, imho, of making them stand out and sound cool. Not everyone can double their solos. It takes a bit of practice. But it's a skill worth working on. Also, you can always do the trick of doubling your solo then deviating to a harmony bit then go back to doubling it, which really gives nice dynamics to a solo smile.gif

I wouldn't have guessed it was 1 guitar, totally thought it was 2 biggrin.gif is it more dominant on one side? is it the delay that is giving it a bit of a 2 guitar vibe in some places?
my ears are crap, maybe it doesn't sound like 2 guitars in the slightest!

what about the solo in 'Money', thats 2 guitars.... right? huh.gif

* I know its the floyd and they were a bit good at this sort of thing!
