The Secret To Developing Your Own "style" Options

Great vid By Sarah Longfield about how she developed her own style. It's similar to REB BEACH in that necessity was the mother of invention. She's got very very small hands and not a ton of picking power. So she wanted to shred like her guitar heros but was not physically able to do much of what she saw on youtube. So instead. She practically re invented the way she played and now is pretty big deal on scene with her own line of Strandbergs in Guitar Center. How did she do it? Shockingly easy.

Well how its taken is what makes the difference if the subject is a good or bad thing.

Nobody does everything perfect but pushing yourself will be rewarding if career route is selected. I mean, if one limits him/herself narrow this will become a problem later on cause you won't have the same time to practice stuff when adopted guitar as a job.

Well said. Nobody does everything perfectly. I was asking about "Style" really, just a general question. Is anybody trying to develop their own sort of style? If so what kind of style are you going for?\

Nobody does everything perfect but pushing yourself will be rewarding if career route is selected. I mean, if one limits him/herself narrow this will become a problem later on cause you won't have the same time to practice stuff when adopted guitar as a job.

Yes! This is what I have always done, and it's the only thing that really intrigues me.

It had a big downside though when I started out. As a beginner you get quick recognition if you can play a cover tune - but I always got bored before I could learn to play anything properly.

So instead I tried to come up with my own stuff, which always sounded really bad. Like it does for everybody in the beginning!

I still kept going though.

I had a similar experience. I started learning covers. Even played some covers in live bands. Just got tired of playing other folks music very quick. I've done so little of it actually over the past several years that I actually sorta miss it now. Maybe it's just nostalgic but I keep wanting to do old Iron Maiden covers and stuff like that. I guess everything goes 360 degrees at some point.
