GMC Forum _ GEAR & PRODUCTION _ Does Anyone Have Negative Experience With A Schecter C-1 Hellraiser?

Posted by: Praetorian Apr 1 2009, 12:45 AM

I think this guitar is very sharp looking, and have heard nothing but good things about it. Anyone have a bad experience with one?

The neck is pretty "fat"....especially compared to your Ibanez. You might not like it and you might find it difficult to adapt to. Is it just the trem on your Ibanez you don't like? Do you have tuning issues with it? smile.gif

My friend just go one and I find the neck similar to my Bc Rich. For sure, it's no where near Ibanez necks.

I've got one last week. I'll write a Review for you soon. There are some negative things I've noticed. But the neck is at least for me not an issue. It's thicker than an Ibanez Wizard that's for sure. But to me it really feels right.

I have pretty much had it with the floyd in the Ibanez. I have tried a Tremel-no...it works ok, but doesn't lock it out completely. I am trying wooden blocks next, if that doesn't work then I am getting rid of the guitar. I can't afford to own a bunch of guitars in different tunings, so I need one that I can change without issues (like a fixed bridge!). I also like the string through body and set neck of the Schecter. I am not a big fan of shredding, so I don't think the fatter neck would be an issue. I have played one at Guitar Center and didn't mind it. I only played one for a short time though, and was wondering what people thought who had owned them for awhile.

I havent got THAT much experience with the C-1, but i have tried one quite a bit in a store.
For some reason, i rarely notice difference in necks as i'm used to both my Ibanez, Jackson and Gibson which are all quite different.
But anyway, i thought the guitar felt nice and sounded great, especially through a Marshall, cant remember which amp-model though.

Tremol-no works for me, man.
Anyway, the schecter is a great guitar, no doubt, but the ibanez is also nice if you set it up right.

What different tunings are you contemplating bro? I had no problem retuning my guitar, just gotta re-set the springs! smile.gif

Had it professionally set it and plays like a dream. WIth the active EMG pickups it has Punch!

I dig it!

Was yours made in China, Korea or Indonesia? I have heard that the quality depends on where it was made

It works fine. It is the floyd rose I can't stand. I never use the trem, so I have all the downsides of a floyd without ever using it.

From what I have read, the Korean ones are the best quality.

This is probably true. My "perfect" C-1 Classic is from korea true. This does probably correlate to the increased quality of life in South Korea.

Im in the same boat as you... I never use my floyd rose and i hate changing the strings... seems to take forever to do it

Have you looked at the ESP EC-1000's?

they have emgs and look nice also, I have the esp mh-1000 and i love everything about it except the floyd rose

I want to get a ESP EC-1000 but i dont want to get ripped off on my guitar..
