GMC Forum _ Introduce Yourself ! _ Hello!

Just registered today and wanted to say Hi. My Name's Dan and I'm from Abbotsford BC Canada. been looking through the site and through the lessons and have already started to make fairly good progress on my fingering and speed. I am very impressed with the way Kris has the lessons set up. I used to have a guitar when I was in highschool ( an old handmade acoustic) but I never made any headway and would often put the guitar away for months at a time. I started playing the other week and only had some basic chords, with little to no speed. and after a day of the lessons here. I doubt I will be putting the guitar away anytime soon.

A bit about my gear. well there really is nothing to it. about 2 weeks ago I decided I wanted to pick myself up an electric guitar.Unfortunately I only had $200 cad I in the bank so I have a MRW lespaul style electric, an MRW amp ( bottom of the barrel stuff I know) and just the other day picked up a BOSS DS-1 distortion pedal. I'm hoping this equipment will serve me well as a beginner?

Anyway Enough rambling

Dan

Welcome Dan!

I'm not familiar with MRW - but as long as it stays in tune, it will probably be great until you get a little better - the most important thing is that YOU are happy with it for now, if so you will want to keep picking it up and playing it smile.gif

Hi!

Welcome m8 smile.gif
Good to see others blowing dust from the guitar. Hope you learn alot and stay motivated, know i will!
Your guitar will do as a beginner, maybe it needs some intoneation if you cant get the chords to sound right.
And the guitarstrings from the fabric probably suck!

Wish you the best of luck dude, rock on!!

Welcome from the east coast!
I love Abbotsford. I haven't been there in a few years but I just loved it. Use to have friends there but they've now moved to Washington. I was going to do marine biology in Abbotsford after high school but never happened. Just one of those things.

You will love this site and you'll be amazed how fast you'll learn. I'm so happy I found this place. Everyone is really nice and there is soooo much info. I'm a beginner as well and I've learned so much in the short time I've been here and I couldn't play for almost a month...hockey injury long story...just got back to playing this week and have been going mad at the beginner lessons. Hope you have fun here!

Thanks for the warm welcome smile.gif
MRW is just a cheap chinese brand. surprisingly enough it doesnt sound all that bad, but I'm sure the DS-1 helps that a bit tongue.gif

I'm really enjoying playing again, and getting better faster than I thought I could. even got my friend to go pick up a bass smile.gif
