GMC Forum _ GEAR & PRODUCTION _ More Gas... Sort Of!

Just come back from helping a friend clear out some gear that was in his Lock-up and found an old Guitar that I forgot I'd bought years ago!!!
It's a Yamaha RGX 211 from the late 80's!!

Well, I cleaned the pots, plugged it in and it plays quite well!!! It's still got the same strings on from when it got packed away so they must be about 15-20 years old!!!! Oh, and I took that sticker off it too!!

I did use it at home for a while! Mind you, back then I must have had about 25-30 Guitars!!!
I bought it as a kind of 'Back up' Guitar for when we were touring!
It just got packed away with a lot of our other gear and I kinda forgot about it until I found it today!!! Now it's back home where it belongs!!!

Good thinking with the back-up guitar Sensible.....you never know when your other 25-30 guitars might die on you at a gig........

. There's not even an attic .
I did lend my best friend an Ibanez about 25 years ago though. One day I may ask for it back but there's no rush .

.I have a few Instruments that are 'On Loan' too!! Namely a couple of Les Pauls, an ES 355 and some Amps and Effects!!!
One day I'll have a House big enough to have all my gear back in one place!!!
I hope some day I will rediscover one of my current guitars and it will be vintage then Hopefully it'll be the Strat you got given on the day you were born!!!!

Keep checking, it may turn up one day!!!
I'm surprised how well it's survived! The paint has aged and there's a big chip on the front edge of the lower horn but apart from that it's really quite OK!!!
I see what you mean about the Caparison, although I don't think this is quite in THAT league!!!

I used to have a mini-sponsorship/endorsement deal with a local Music Store so I obviously abused the arrangement and had as big a collection as I could!!!!
At one time I had 19 Dean Z Super Strats in varying colours!
