This here is your thread To answer your question - as long as the notes are from the same mother scale (C major in this case) you can try almost every combination - the purpose is to create some direction and to resolve the phrase on a strong tone in order to make it sound good - try some possibilities and let me know what you like most. In respect to blues - I suggest you to try combining the minor and major pentatonic scales - it should be a very fun thing to do and it always keeps your mind awake What say you? Indeed, root third and fifth should be your main targets if you wish for resolution, if not, aim for the others as well Some tension could be nice sometimes, but the choice is up to you, as long as you are conscious of what notes you chose against what chords and what you aim for.
