Hi guys.

Didnt know if it was too much to ask, but I am wondering if maybe for future lessons , if we could have the notes appear a little slower for some of the Song Lessons.

I find myself having to constantly catch up with the thing.

Thanks ! smile.gif

Yeah, perhaps it should be applied when played slow videos, not in tempo,
that might work plus it's also easier for instructors to match the dot and sound.

I agree, it looks kind of hectic in the main videos, works much better on slow videos!

Yes I agree the moving dot diagram should always be present with the slow playing illustration - and the slow playing illustration should be as slow as possible. Hopefully this should be the case for newer song lessons - but if you are having problems with a lesson always notify about it in the feedback of the lesson so that the instructor has the possibility to fix it!

I am moving this thread to the feedback board!

I agree, hopefully things will be a bit better in next lessons.
I also hope we can find an easier way to do the moving dots. I'm right in the middle of creating some and it's such a pain!!!
Well worth it though, since it's for GMC... :-)

David are you using Vegas for the dots?

EDIT: on the topic: I will in the future make a bit slower tempo, the slower - the better that's what I'm thinking. You can always get it too fast, but it's hard to get it too slow. (if that makes sense unsure.gif )

I still don't really get why we can't post the tabs? I know it's because of copyright, but look at it this way: Just Sandercoe (from justinguitar, you might now him) has quite a big all free guitar lesson site, and he does famous songs with tabs ready for download. He said he wasn't sure about the copyright, but if anyone would aks him to remove it with the thread of a copyright claim, he would stop producing those videos. It never happended...

there are tabs all over the internet, why can't instructors upload their GP5 file to ultimate guitar, and then just give us the link?

It is probably because the LAW says something like:

"You cannot deal other people's tabs if you don't pay the license to do it. We cannot say where will the files be found, they can appear anywhere on the internet, but if we decide to close the site where we find copyright issues we can do it"

So simply because there is no way to tell when or where they will strike, we cannot put other people's tabs here unless we want the GMC to be on the target of the law, I think there isn't any need to risk that much, as this is a respectable and legal site for all.

Then still why not upload tab to UG?

Because UG is also an unreliable service that can be shut down because of this any moment. If they want to do it, they can do it. Same thing happened with MySongbook several years ago if you remember.
So imagine now we have a bunch of famous song lessons on GMC, and the links lead to UG, which gets the attention of music industry and get shutdown, or author song only limited (as happened with MySongbook). Members would complain then, if they cannot get access to the GP files (and again, those GP files are not legal to use, although they are everywhere).

It is important to understand that when you are doing business of any kind, you cannot afford to perform any illegal activities - activities that are in confrontation with the law. There is a high risk of endangering the business, and loosing the trust of the customers that way. I think it's always better to play by the book, specially if you are involved in business where 7000-8000 people services depend on the actions you take.

EDIT: however knowing how GMC has improved during the course of last several years, I really believe and hope that all the services will get even better in time. I think the moving dot system is great thing, works nicely, only needs a bit slower tempo as suggested. I never saw any video lessons on the web that has that kind of moving dot display for these lessons, so I think it's a quality thing, but like all new things it requires some time to evolve, so we can make the best of that technology of production.
