American Series White Strat is a good guitar and you should buy it - period. Every musician IMHO should have a strat.

I have a mexican made standard strat and I like it very much. A lot of people though complain about the quality of the mexican made ones. The only conclusion i've come to about them is that buying one is taking a chance because you may get one that's great or you may get one that's not built as well (I've heard others saying this too). Their quality is sort of inconsistent. The pickups aren't very good either but they can obviously be replaced. I recently however built a custom strat to my exact style. I got it from a company called Warmoth. You might want to check them out if you haven't already. Really awesome quality.

I just bought a NEW for 2008 Fender American Standard Series Stratocaster shipped to my door for $799 from an online Music Store.

They had sent me a 20% coupon and it came in handy knocking $200 off the regular price.

I have to tell you the new Strat is amazing, it sounds great and plays just as well as it sounds.

The new Maple Fretboard is buffed and very slick, it will take some breaking in, but it is truly a work of art.

I got mine in the Blizzard Pearl finish.

Howard

Thanks, it really is beautiful.

I played a 2007 American Strat and liked it alot, it got me thinking, then......

My daughter's boyfriend left his Mexican Strat here and I liked it so much I went for the New American Standard Version.

I just sold my Fender Telecaster FMT HH, so now I am down to 3 guitars, 4 if you count the $99 Dean Vendetta XM.

I agree, a Les Paul and a Strat are the two must haves from my generation.

In fact I just sold my Fender Showmaster, so now I am down to the Les Paul and Strat, not counting the $99 Dean Vendetta XM.

A Gibson SG Standard or 61 Reissue would be nice to add to my collection.

I think it's all preferance, I personally need a very thick, warm tone for the kind of music I play, so I don't think I'm getting a strat anytime soon. But if the music you play calls for that brighter tone go for it.

I personally am not fond of how they feel/play, but they sound simply amazing. I picked up an EJ signature Strat in Guitar Center one day, and it had to be one of the best sounding guitars I've ever played, but I hated how it felt. It wasn't set up very well, but even taking that into consideration, it just wasn't for me. But then again, the price tag might have had something to do with that, as well. laugh.gif

It just comes down in personal preference in the end. I don't think you should ever buy a guitar unless you can sit down with it, play it, and just know that it's the guitar for you. One person could get some amazing sounds out of a guitar that, in another's opinion, could be just about the worst guitar on the planet.

Also, France.

Me too, the necks feel like a fat dowel that has been cut in half, they are usally skinny and annoyingly thick.

I just bought an american deluxe. I think it's a bit more versatile than the standard because of the S1 switching, it's a bit more expensive but you can tell they spend a bit more time building these ones. So I'd say if you like to use more distortion the S1 may get you closer to the tone you're looking for without sacrificing the nice clean tone you can get as well.
