I know Kris was in a Death Metal band, and Sweden has some of GREAT Death Metal. So why not have a Death Metal lesson!?
There are already sophisticated solo lessons, so why not make one with sheer aggressive licks? biggrin.gif

I never listen to death metal but why not, it would be cool just to know how to play it. Go for it! cool.gif

Bring on the metal \m/

Some super-heavy riffs would be really cool indeed.

Oh, off-topic, nowadays In Flames is more emo-death metal than just death metal laugh.gif

Exactly. Emo = emotional. Also a "bad word" (read: insult) for people dressing in black, wiriting suicide poems and slashing their wrists. From the beginning it means emotional though and it was in that purpose I used it.

If you listen to the lyrics from the latest albums you'll hear what I mean about 'emotional' lyrics.

Still lovin' in flames though. cool.gif

I saw that, that issue is gonna be awesome!

Posted by: Zee Deveel Jan 24 2007, 10:11 PM

The word "emo" is a waste of time.

It either means a girlie fringe kid or it means music with emotion and what music isn't emotional? -- Shit music.

So in conclusion the word emo should be replaced with:

Faggot or Good.

E.g.

That kid is a big faggot (emo).

Play some good(emo) Death Metal.

Thanks.

Posted by: Norven Jan 25 2007, 04:19 AM

Yeah, I would love some heavy riffs.

Power metal would be very nice:P
And of cource Death metal

that guy just sux. He plays some lame br00tal death metal. Nothing can compare to the original Flordia style. NY has some good once but most of them are just boring.

you like death metal?

http://myspace.com/slogstorm

check that out, seriously extremely great. I find it much better than all the "popular" death metal bands.
also, darkthrone - soulside journey is great.

Their first album is a death metal album and then they recorded "Goatloard" wich is also a death metal album, but they released it later on with "black metal vocal" and sound tongue.gif but yes they are a black metal band, my favorite.

I Just want kris to make a lesson for that song he put up here (the death metal one) im really diggin the solo

Posted by: terryn0 Mar 19 2007, 07:35 AM

Yeah, im kinda getting into that song too...

it would be awsome if Kris started a lesson on death metal, im totally for the idea

Posted by: The Uncreator Mar 21 2007, 04:01 AM

Death Metal is my guitar Speciality, i study many death metal bands intensly, if i new how to work a webcam and recording equipment, id love to do a lesson it, but infortuantle, im a little to poor for it.

Posted by: ThatGuy Mar 21 2007, 09:54 AM

How about At The Gates. True Melodic Death Metal right there. GOTHENBURG STYLE. And/or Carcass. Gotta love them man. And yeah. Same with The Uncreator. I'm really good with Death Metal style riffs. And I love Melodic Death Metal. To bad I don't have a working webcam.

Posted by: The Uncreator Mar 21 2007, 08:19 PM

Yeah, or maybe just a death metal lesson in the vein of classic death metal acts like At The Gates, Death, Obituary, Cannibal Corpse, Suffocation and whatnot. ive spent countless hours learning there riffs and songs, and making my own based on what ive learned, and i know i havent learned all i can about it, so a lesson on it would kick ass.

Posted by: BodomESP Apr 3 2007, 10:58 PM

I would love to see some death metal type stuff on GMC

like some people were saying before: some Children of Bodom style stuff or Dark Tranquillity would kick a$$

Posted by: Matt Apr 4 2007, 11:47 AM

i got a feeling where not gonna get a death metal lesson, and if we do it probably wont be one on one style but i could be wrong

Posted by: The Uncreator Apr 4 2007, 08:31 PM

We need one, Death Metal riffage can seriously imporve your playing alot, atleast it has for me.

Posted by: Keith Whalley Apr 4 2007, 08:43 PM

We need AT The Gates Lessons.... (With Fear I kiss The Burning Darkness etc)
What is it about Sweedish people and guitars, they become godlike?

Posted by: Stevemuenn Apr 10 2007, 07:12 AM

Some gojira riffs would be awesome. Trivium as well, not really death metal but they still have badass shit.

Posted by: The Uncreator Apr 17 2007, 08:46 PM

Yes i agree, Trivium are (And In My Oppinion....) some of the best songwriters in the last 15-20 years, there riffs and solos are so awesome, and there live performances are godlike, just total energy and balls out Metal, god i love it

Posted by: Overkiller Apr 21 2007, 12:08 PM

Amon Amarth-lesson! "Pursuit of Vikings" kicks ass!
I also hope that there will be a Dimebag Style Lesson, or Zakk Wylde or something.
I hope there will be some black and death-metal-lessons. dry.gif

Posted by: The Uncreator Apr 21 2007, 02:14 PM

Pursuit of vikings is awesome, but, its actually really simple, its one of the first songs i did by ear, i think we need some Early death metal, like Possesed, Obituary, Suffocation and whatnot. just balls out heavy as hell!

your clue that this is incorrect, would be that looking at a death metal audience, seeing what they look like. "where it is at" genres draw a much more attractive audience. There are elements of interest, I realize that. The lyrics are a joke, sophomoric, seemingly based on those who have derived an education in mythology based primarily in late night television viewing. And the vocals are a laugh to 99.9% of anyone who has heard those. And quite honestly, most of the songs sound pretty much the same to 99.9% of those who might hear them. But as I said, there are some musical elements of interest. I would like to see the elements of musical interest explained, preferably by one of the non-initiated, such as Kris or Pavel.

Posted by: The Uncreator May 29 2007, 02:42 PM

It depends on the person like all music, when it comes to the growling and them sounding the same, the person saying they all sound the same isn't hearing what im haering. by vocals alone, i can tell many Death metal bands apart. and the lyrical aspect, i admit, the gore thing might seem a bit "out there", but mostly its just a tradition thing and there arent meant to be taking seriously.
But there are MANY Death metal bands who put alot of thought into there lyrics, that arent gore-based... Opeth, Arch Enemy, Dark Tranquility, Nile, and Death to name very few bands.

Death Metal is full of superb musicians, who have talents many people will never know of, but to those who are there to witness there talent, and what they create with it, the memory lasts forever.

Agreed. Death metal ain't really my thing, but some of the bands do some amazing guitar work. It's amazing to me to watch someone like CC play what they play as fast as they do.

Ah man, don't take that attitude towards it.

Get started now and I bet you can nail the Fermented Offal Discharge solo by.. A few months?

Best way to improve is practice what's challenging ! dry.gif

Posted by: The Uncreator May 31 2007, 10:39 PM

Well of course man!

I actually know the entire Fermented Offal Discharge Solo, but, not up to speed of course, i play it over abd over for about 45 - 60 minutes a day and that keeps my legato, tapping, and sweeps more than up to par biggrin.gif

I was just stressin' how challengin and technical they are smile.gif

Anybody heard of Extol?

Their early stuff pumped out some of the coolest death metal I've ever heard. Although their recent stuff is boring as many crucial members left. But yeah, they're an awesome Christian death metal band. The album "Undeceived" is totally amazing.

Ah yes, ive heard of them, i havent heard to much, maybe only one album, but what i did hear was pretty damn cool

Posted by: Sean Conklin Jun 3 2007, 07:52 PM

Yeah definitely check out the album "Undeceived" if you can. It's far superior to all their other stuff in my opinion. "Burial" is probably the runner-up to that.

I think, that Christian Death Metal, is... Bullshit..
The musik can be cool.. i'd never heard it...
The lyrics.. of course they can be cool and strong...

But simple.. my favorit statement.. KEEP IT REAL. ( Henry Rollins )
Making a Gospel song about satan and burning crosses, is wrong..
It's the same here.. Death metal, and Jesus.. IS WRONG... biggrin.gif

Talking about playing guitar... Steal everything.... And create your own style.
Thats what it's all about.. Don't you aggree....?
