Acoustic Problem (strumming)

Hello all,

Recently I've been practicing Teddy Geiger's "For You I Will (confidence)" and I've been having a bit of trouble. I got most of the chord changes down, but I've noticed that its hard for me to hold the pick while strumming. The pick seems to slowly but surely leave my hand, and I lose control of it throughout the song.

I could also just strum with more force and holding the pick stronger in my fingers, but there are a few chords which I play very lightly because it gives it a better, softer feel and I feel like I cannot achieve that sound that I want if I hold it as firm as I might need to. I typically use Jazz III's for playing normally, but sometimes I use Fender Mediums when I play acoustic, but I still tend to lose grip of the pick throughout.

Any tips, GMC? smile.gif

You could use only your hands. That´s what I do often. smile.gif With your fingers, you have even more control and they can´t just fall off. laugh.gif Additionally, you can do some adornments/ornaments like rasgueado (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsSvIl4gFEY).

Yeah, it´s definitely worth. You can also solo with fingers. This give so much control and possibilites of tone variation. Check out how much I varied the tone intensity in this collaboration. Or you can change between fingers and pick which offers an even bigger field of variation. Example: a song by me. smile.gif

It's just a matter of practicing, believe me,
I had similar problems back in years
and I guess many others had as well, just keep working. smile.gif

Hold it more firmly! During the time you control will improve so you will have no problem playing strumming, also, practice sweeping.

Thanks guys, I've been working on it all day for quite some time and I am holding it more firmly than I was before and I seem to still have decent control over it. I'll just work on it till I get it to where I want it to be.

I appreciate the help smile.gif
