MULTI STRING BENDING / VIBRATO

INTRO:

This is is related to the lick we did last time. This one is just two strings fretted vertically with one finger and then you apply a bit of vibrato to both at once. It's quite simple once you get used to it and it's very handy for all kinds of solo work smile.gif

Here is the tablature. This lick doesn't have that many notes so the tab is pretty simple. It's what you do with this lick that makes it special. This is just a starting point.

NAILED IT!!! Perfect bend, musical, technical, grabbed both strings and made them sing. Didn't drop a string, symmetrical on the pull, pretty much everything I was hoping for. Pretty much KRUSHED IT!!!! in other words you just...

LEVELED UP!!!

PERFECT. This is exactly how the lick is supposed to go with the right amount of bluesy flair thrown in as a bonus. This seems like a lick you have played before as you are able to add vibrato in both single fret positions. Very well done. You have a high degree of control over the vibrato across both strings despite the fact you are only using a single finger. Just freaking KILLED IT!!!!

In other words you just...

LEVELED UP!!!

You got it!! That's the idea. VIbrato across strings using a single finger. If this lick is new to you then it does take a while to fully integrate in to your playing style. It's a very handy blues lick that works nearly everywhere nearly every time. Take a look at the video above where YONCOPIN puts vibrato on the 12th and 10th frets across both strings. I suspect this is a lick that he has played before as he has a very practiced hand at it. The lick will smooth out and become more "bluesy" the more you play it and I'd say play it against a blues backing if possible to get the real feel of the lick. It works better with music than it does under a microscope or in a vacuum. After all it's blues! smile.gif Glad to see you burning through these as they come up!! keep it up!!! In other words you just ..

LEVELED UP!!!!!

Yet another bendy lick that light strings tend to make look easier. I'm using 8 gauge strings in the demo so I can bend this all the way a full step up with no problem. Also using spiff ibby with a paper thin neck which also helps make it easy. In short, I'm using every trick in the book to make this look far easier than it actually is. On top of that, I've been playing this lick for many years. It's a core lick in Rock and Blues and even Metal so put it with your bag of tricks and bring it out often. Also, use it with the other bendy lick in a solo and soon! Using these in context is the best way to make them stick!! You've got the mechanics of this one down. Now it's time to practice it! In other words you just...

LEVELED UP!!!!

It looks like you have the same video for lick 8 and lick 9. Lick 9 is bending two strings with a vertical two string finger position, while lick 8 is bending two strings with one finger off set by one fret and one note not being bent. The licks are very similar but just a pinch different. Take a closer look at the tablature and you'll get it on one go.

BINGO!!!!!! This is exactly what I'm on about. Very nice vibrato and double string bend. This is a core lick for anyone who wants to write good solo passages. This lick works in any key you move it to and always sounds cool in context. It creates tension and gives a bluesy vibe to any solo. It's a very handy bit for one's bag of tricks. Good finger power going on here. Plenty of range in that bend and you got both strings. Score!!! You just..
LEVELED UP!!!

You got it!! This is a foundational lick in all soloing. Being able to bend these two strings or any two strings, turns a simple bend in to a chordal type of lick. It's not easy at first I know, it's worth doing. Keep working on this lick and on your single finger vibrato of two strings. As for now you just...

LEVELED UP!!!

It's great to see you divingin to QUICK LICKS!!!! KEEP IT UP!!!
