I was watching an special at VH1 and it's awesome how many great songs are in lists from one hit wonders... sometimes you don't know the name of the band but the song is so popular... I don't know what can make a band to avoid keep on having popular songs once the got one. Even when they keep a similar style...

This is a list with 100 greatest one hit wonders of the 80's:

http://blog.vh1.com/2009-04-01/100-greates...ead-the-list-2/

What's your favourite one hit wonder? smile.gif

based on that list.. mine is: Twisted Sister: “We’re Not Gonna Take It” smile.gif

Mr. Sykes was the reason Whitesnake got famous and I don't think they have neared what they did with him.

The VH1 list has obviously a big US bias to it, quite a few of those artists had numerous hits in the UK and other countries

Midnight Oil (front picture of article) is one of Aussie's biggest bands and I saw them live a couple of times. Awesome! Not a one hit wonder band at all. Maybe in the USA.
Gee looking at that list there are so many good songs. I grew up in the 80's.
I was talking to a bloke at work this week and he said watching MTV is so crap now because the budget for videos has gone. 80's had the best video's. Talking heads, Dire straits, Peter Gabriel, A-HA.

however they have another hit that was mainstream here in my country. The most popular pop radio stations used to play it.

I meant that the album title says

Greatest Hit
& 21 other pretty cool songs

@ gabe: ye, that aswell.
The Live at Budokan version has one of my favourite Petrucci solos in it.
Though that whole album was kind of forced to be some poppy "hit" thing (which kind of failed biggrin.gif)
I really recommend listening to the demo version of this album which more shows what the band wanted to do with that album (Imo superior to the official release in many ways)
