I decided to buy a wireless system to use when rehearsing with my band. I have never tried one before so i dont know what to expect of it.

How you guys used one? And what do you think of them?

I've not used one, or have the need for one (apart from my ability to trip over cables) but I've heard good things about the Line 6 Relay series. They bought out the company who originally made them X2.

I've never used one but I would like to buy it in the near future. The only important thing that everybody says is that you have to get a good one (expensive one), to avoid losing signal.

I also heard good things and reviews about Line6 digital wireless systems. I was also thinking of getting one. Only things annoying can be the need to change batteries. But it should work well when used only for rehearsals/gigs.

I don't know much about the matter, but I'd like to have a wireless system myself!
I wonder how much audio quality you loose from using a wireless system compared to a cable though?

That depends on the wireless system. I recently tried out the Line 6 Relay G90 Rackmount Digital Wireless Guitar System, it was awesome. I still had the same tone as if I were to use my normal cheap Monster Cables. I would say it is well worth the investment if you are looking for a rack system. I can't speak for the other two models however.

I tested this one because Opeth uses them. I don't know if anyone else has seen them live, but their tone is just as good live as it is on their last two records.

If I were building a guitar rack, then I would definitely get this Wireless system.

Someday, when I have a decent job and can make a good living, I will invest in an awesome rack!

I use to have one the prices may vary from $200 up to $1500
The difference is in more expensive units you will get long lasting battery and clean signal
Its a great thing to have cause you will not be attached to the cable all the time but make sure there is nothing on the way so your signal will not be interrupted also in some clubs you may get a clicking noise because of the lights or poor grounding

I have used on , and still have it, even though it is 10 years old
Mine lost a little signal, but never enough to throw me of
I am guessing that a new one would have a better signal strength
they are fun but end up being just another thing you have to make sure you bring all the parts and it keeps working
overall I am glad I have it even thought I don't gig anymore
on a side note, I was the one who had the most stage presence in our band , so the singer did not like me leaving and letting the stage get dead

Did this help,or am I just rambling smile.gif

When I was Gigging I have used Nady and also a Shure wireless setup for both guitar and vocals, its great having the freedom to leave the stage and mingle with the crowd while performing, its also usefull to get out in front of the mains to hear how you are sounding in the mix, you need a quality setup tho to avoid signal loss and a reduction of quality of sound. So dont pinch pennies here.

I have used one live, and I've noticed it decreases the gain in your signal.

That's why some bands still use cables,

but the upside is it's so comfortable!

Recently I thought to use it, but I gave up -it was some very old model. Don't know about the new models but I believe that they are much improved..

Waste of money in my honest opinion, cables do the job just fine. Better to spend it on something more practical (and frequently used).
