GMC Forum _ GEAR & PRODUCTION _ Guitar Repair

A commonly seen thing when buing used gear is that the seller states that it had a crack in the neck that was professionally repaired. I don't know if a repaired neck is as good as a neck that never took any dammage. So the real question is should I stay away from used gear that has crack repaires on it or not.

Well you never know if it was repaired correctly..I would not buy damaged gear , especially from internet where I don't have the opportunity to inspect the goods before purchase .. wink.gif

Actually I'm talking about craigslist.com where I would be able to go and inspect it due to the gear being withing a 2 hour drive. I'm just not sure if its worth my time and gas money to drive there to look and possibly buy.

In some cases, the damage is completely fixed.. Around 7 years ago i cracked the headstock right off my Les Paul. Got it professionally repaired and you cant even see where it broke now.

Personally , I'd pass on neck issues. There's great deals out there without having to deal with something like that.
