Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Original lesson: Queens Of The Stone Metal by Adrian Figallo

I think this might be my best recording job to date. I took your advice from the Hendrix lesson and spent more time on my tone. I re-organized my recording setup to be able to record the dry guitar signal and then re-amp it through my Pod HD500X. I was able to focus on getting a good guitar take first, then was able to A/B the amps with the original recording to try to match. It's always fun to mess with different guitar sounds and now this is saved as a preset I can use anywhere, way cool.

Very good, my friend. Your tone control and muting are nice and consistent.

There's a couple of moments where the timing almost gets left behind the drums but you just manage to keep it on the right side. These points occur during the lead licks during the drum breaks and the down picked riff at the end.

Overall, a great job !

Now that's a progress! smile.gif You clearly gave that one some time and patience. Tone is in fact way better. I have agree with Ben on some tine timming issues.

I also have one tip for You on the part starting at around 0:59. You move Your left index finger after every note it plays. Now watch how it look on original lesson - his finger is flat all the time. IT touches all the strings below the ones You play. It is simply a method of muting unwanted noise. It works sort of like baree position but You do not press the strings, only touch those who You want to mute.
